Kitab Cafe and Bookstore — Restaurant in Hamtramck

The Kitab Cafe in Hamtramck is a really nice place where people who love coffee gather to enjoy their favorite drinks. When I walked in, I immediately liked the cozy and relaxed feeling. The soft lights and the smell of coffee being made made it feel really comfortable. I sat down, drank my coffee, and watched all the people talking about books and having fun.

Clean and carefully curated aesthetic which is much appreciated. Drove from 30 miles away only to find out the sandwich chef “did not show up”. No sign on the door. Unapologetic attitude from those working. Uncertain why baristas aren’t cross trained to serve food. Pretty disappointing for someone came from outside the area to visit. For a Muslim establishment, would expect the default meat selection to be halal. This is not the case. I would highly suggest converting to all Z-halal meat, OR making it known to the consumer that they need to specify which meat they would like. The website markets non-Z brand when you review the menu. I do not like feeling like an “other” at a Muslim owned cafe. The default marketing should be geared towards Z-halal. Update 10/5/2023 Owner of Kitab Ahmed has remediated the issue and reimbursed my towing expense. According to the owner of Kitab, they were able to resolve the parking issue by reaching an agreement with the owner of the parking lot-connected to the coffee shop. Glad to see this business owner is looking after his customers.

Previous post 10/4/2023 This business coordinates with a towing company called Nationwide Recovery to tow paying customers' cars. Beware of going to this coffee shop I went there and ended up paying a $ 365 towing fee for parki to do some work there. No notice was provided to the customers by this business and according to the towing company the owner of the boarded-up building next door owns this lot connected to this coffee shop.
