Motor City Sports Bar — Restaurant in Hamtramck

The Motor City Sports Bar in Hamtramack fits the bill of being a place where "everybody knows your name". In each of my visits there in the past month or so, the atmosphere has been very friendly, largely, I think, due to the congeniality of the owner, Nick (he and his twin brother own another place in Warren by the same name) and the service of the female bartenders. I have had some great conversations with the local clientele, who have graciously bought the new guy a number of beers. The food selection is limited; but is extraordinarily good. Nick is also the cook on most days and has produce a burger that is actually the best I have ever had. In May of 2010, the Detroit News rated their burger as the best in Detroit. I agree with that. Just witnessed the most racist and unprofessional act at this bar by the bartender and cook, I believer her name is Rhonda or Rachel. This isn't the first time I've seen her be disrespectful to a customer. She loves to beg for tips and wear inappropriate clothing but tonight I'll never give my hard earned dollars to a business who hire people who discriminate against customers. While I'm leaving a review I have to say that Julie is also a bartender here who is beyond RUDE. She is unprofessional and if you look like you'll leave a large tip she'll be kind but very unfriendly. Tried on a recommendation for their burger. Unfortunately, I found it to be less than the best burger in town, I’m not sure I would rank it even third best in Hamtramck and it wasn’t that it wasn’t cooked right, it just didn’t have enough flavor. I would say most people can make themselves an identical tasting burger without leaving home (so why go out?). Moreover, out of all the burger joints in town, MC has the worst French fries - not only do they taste the worst but they cost about 35%-40% more than fries cost at other local burger joints at this time.
