On a recent weekend adventure with my children we took the train to Hanford, Ca. I love downtown Hanford, every time I go, I stand in the park with its many historical buildings around and I feel like I in the 1950’s. With in walking distance of the Amtrak station lays downtown Hanford and although it is very charming, I didn’t find a lot of dinning choices. After walking round for several minutes me and my kids found Fatte Albert's Pizza Company. I thought, at the time, it was a logical and economic solution but boy was wrong. When I walked into the place, I took a seat at one of the small tables that have crowded into the main walkway. It took me a moment to realize that I had to walk up to the counter to place my order. I walked up and I ordered a large 3 topping pizza (which only has 8 slices), 2 sodas and a 24oz beer. $36.00! Really? I looked over at the fully visible kitchen staff, one of which was hand tossing the crust for another order. Well…you get what you pay for right? I had read reviews on this place before deciding on it and I wasn’t too upset to pay the man. I sat back down at my table, which was sticky, and eagerly awaited the arrival of what I thought was going to be a terrific pie. As I waited my eyes started to wonder around at the staff in the kitchen. This would never bother me but after spending a decent price for a large pizza and waiting 10 minutes for my draft beer to arrive, I found the staffs appearance to be unprofessional. The kitchen staff works an island and this allows full view of them as they work. There are even stools set up in so that customers can sit and watch. I found this very confusing because if I was the manager and this was the appearance of my staff I would take every effort to hide them from the public. The staff appeared unclean and wore trucker hats which were not part of a uniform. They had body piercings and tattoos, one mans ears were gauged and I was temporarily hypnotized as I gazed at the sunlight streaming through the rather large hole. They collectively looked like a group of inmates working in a kitchen prison. Collin Kaepernick would have felt right at home. If you are going to over charge for pizza, people will pay, if the quality and professionalism is there. But I was insulted at the atmosphere altogether. When the pizza did arrive it was undercooked. When I pulled my sliced away it wilted like a dead flower and all my toppings fell off. The dough was soft and chewy. I took a picture of this slop but I didn’t complain because I was with my children and it was our day to have fun. The kids ate the pizza up very quickly and we left, hungry. It’s been six weeks since that trip and I felt compelled to write this review today after my unit at work had a pizza party and we ordered Me&Ed’s. It was so good that it made me remember one of the worse slices of pizza I have ever had. That pizza was at Fatte Albert’s in Hanford, Ca and I will never...
Read moreOrdered online through their website for carry out. It said it would be ready for pickup in approximately 30 min. So, I wait 30 minutes then head to the restaurant and the young lady tells me it would be another 10 minutes. No biggie.
So I sit and wait for my order to be finished. The workers (some young blonde lady, a skinny lanky dude, and another female) seemed to be really interested in talking about how bad police officers are and how they should all "just quit". All while I'm sitting there just waiting for my order to be finished up. It's nice they have an opinion on these matters, but I'm really just there to pick up my pizza, not to listen to the workers opinions on police officers.
The food itself was pretty good, albeit expensive (70 dollars for 2 large pizzas and a 24 piece wing). Not spectacular, but not terrible. Wasn't cut the best but it tasted alright. Definitely can't see myself dining in there EVER if the workers are going to bad mouth certain individuals just because of their line of work, and I'm REALLY going to think twice about returning if I'm in the mood for pizza again. I just think they should be more wary about the topics they discuss while around customers, kind of put this bad vibe in the air, a shame because it otherwise could be a very welcoming, laid back...
Read moreAwful. Just awful. I've been here twice, and both times were plagued by terrible service and mismanagement. The first time I went as a party of four, and the staff took well over an hour to get us our appetizers, and 90 minutes to get us our large pizza. We thought it might be a fluke, but the second time we went back it was even worse. When we asked what appetizers they had (they apparently don't keep their menu stocked so you actually need to ask what they have available), they told us they had the mushrooms, so we ordered them. With the appetizers, our group of eight ordered four pizzas. After a 40 minute wait, they informed us that they actually DIDN'T have any mushrooms, and offered to replace the appetizer with fries. When I asked for a refund on the $5 difference between the cost of the mushrooms and the fries, they couldn't seem to figure out why I needed one. On top of that, we didn't get our first pizza until 90 minutes later. Then they brought out three of our pizzas, and tried to tell my friends that they never ordered their pizza, even with a receipt from earlier. I honestly don't know if they were doing it both times on purpose, or if the staff just picks a group of people to mess with, but I do know that I will NEVER go back to this restaurant. WOULD...
