Stopped in here with my girlfriend's family here on our way home from Fresno. I love Mediterranean food, and it was their first time trying it, so I was excited to be there to guide them in their first experience.
Let me start off by saying I've been to a lot of Mediterranean spots, and I definitely have my favorites, but this place tops them all. The staff was abundantly friendly, and attentive, the food came out quick, and it was full of flavor.
We started off by playing it safe with a plate of hummus and pita, and an order of the Burak. The pita was fresh and warm and the hummus had great flavor. Shout out to our server who brought us an extra order hummus and pita because she thought we didn't get enough. The Burak was just as good, nice and flaky, and packed full of cheese.
We also ordered the Chicken Shawarma plate with a side of Fattoush. Stepped outside the traditional and added a little bit of Feta cheese atop the Fattoush and wow what a game changer. The salad was crisp, fresh and had plenty of the dressing. As for the shawarma, I don't think I've ever had shawarma that was bursting with this much flavor. The only downside to this dish was that I finished it too fast and was left wanting more.
We ordered the Lamb Shank for my girlfriend's parents to share. The Lamb Shank was massive, coming complete on it's own plate with potatoes, carrots, celery and onion, including the sauce they were roasted in. It was accompanied by another equally large plate of rice and Fattoush. We never got to try it, but given the level to which my girlfriend's father enjoyed the dish and raved about it afterwards, I know it was just as good as our Shawarma plates.
Overall, this was by far some of the best food and best service I've received in quite some time, and Zaytoona should be proud of themselves. I really look forward to the opportunity to visit again, even if it means going out of my...
Read moreFirst time here, so I tried a few things. Wanted to see how it compared with Pita Kabob and Simply Mediterranean. Lamb and beef kebabs were great!!!! Cooked perfectly to my request (medium rare) and amazing flavor from their seasoning and grill, for me better than both places listed above. Also the veggies (onions/peppers) served with them I found to be better and more evenly cooked. Beef Shawarma-was good, but preferred Simply Mediterraneans. Hummus-had the spicy. Good, not the best. My preference
We went during lunch and they took about 10 minutes to take our order. Then it took 25 - 30 minutes for our order to come out. There were a family of four who came in after us and they got their orders out before us. The server did offered dessert on the house for a long wait but we were fine without it.
I got the spicy chicken plate. The rice and salad was very plain. Although I'm glad it was because the chicken was overly salty and there were so much sauce that came with it. I wasn't aware that it was going to be a curry chicken style. It was cooked well and tender. I just wish it was less salty and had more spice to it. I did not taste any kick at all so that was disappointing. My sister got the shish kebab plate. She enjoyed it but said it was a bit salty also. We also ordered the coconut shrimp and it was pretty good. Besides the meats being salty, the portion sizes were great overall.
Our server took awhile to get our tab out but she was kind enough to give us 10% off for our wait time for our food. I do appreciate her effort. I just hope the staffs and workers here can take this feedback and work on their speed of service for...
