Mangiano Pizza Restaurant Catering & Private Events — Restaurant in Hanover Township

I really honestly wanted to like this place. It's new construction in the town adjacent to us and had so much potential.

The good things - they have a wide selection of frozen Italian desserts that are high quality to eat in or take out (including the glass they come in), they have an impressive array of slices, steoboli, calzone, and wraps for quick service, and their restaurant is new and clean. The food portions for entrees are very large, easily split for family sharing.

However, those things are overshadowed by some massive gaps. While we were seated quickly upon arrival, it took forever and a day for our server to stop by for anything... No drinks, no note to tell us it'd be a minute. Nothing. There were two managers and three hostesses enjoying their cell phones and talking at the hostess stand. No one was coming by until one manager asked if we had ordered already about 10 minutes after we were seated. She got right on her walkie talkie (everyone in the joint has one) and five minutes later the waitress stopped by finally.

I'm complaining, I know. I had my toddler, wife and my mom with me and it is still fresh.

Service is by far the biggest miss for this establishment. The food was ok, the pizza crust not my style but I can go elsewhere. What I can't forgive is the inattention of so many managers when customers clearly needed service. Two stars for poor service, decent food, but new and clean restaurant. I recently booked the dining room for a wedding rehearsal dinner for 75+ guests.

Throughout the booking process we were treated very very well by Lydia who made the process and occasion run so smoothly.

We selected items from the catering menu, table arrangements and also set up a beer and wine area since the establishment is a BYO. We also brought in cakes from the local Nothing Bundt Cake bakery which were handled by the staff after dinner. Lydia oversaw the buffet food distribution , drink table and desserts all of which went especially well.

Our guests who were from all over the country raved that quality of the food was excellent. I was happy that it was more than enough to feed such a large group. And there was always a backup plan for any dish that needed to be replenished. My wife and I so enjoyed the many dishes prepared by their chef as well!

The staff was so good, especially our main waiter Paul. Make sure he is there at your party. The folks at Mangiano's made everyone feel welcomed, like we were at home having a party in our house.

As far as the cost, my wife and I were pleased to be able to host this event without breaking the bank or wearing ourselves out before the wedding. Tables were cleared water glasses were filled and everyone complimented us for throwing such a great dinner party.

There was plenty of parking which made travel run very smoothly too.

Went here on a Friday night, walked around the counter and only one person looked at us and said "what do you want"

We decided to sit in the dining area because we felt slightly rushed for just taking some pizza. Our waitress was not existant, I think she showed up to ask for our drink order, to take our drink order, and to give us the check. Dirty plates and empty glasses sat on our table. The bread basket was extremely underwhelming.

I ordered a chicken parmesan personal pizza, and the dough/crust tasted like cardboard and it was premade. There was hardly any sauce on it and what WAS there tasted like straight acidic tomato... No seasonings at all and the chicken was dry as can be.

My husband ordered a wrap, that when. He picked up literally leaked water from the bottom .I'm assuming this was from all of the deli meats being compressed. He commented that it was pretty bland and could have at least used some oil and vinegar or herbs.

On top of all that, the food we did order took forever to come out. We watched other tables sit down and receive their food and check before ours even came out .we would have asked our waitress, but considering we saw her sitting with other servers and on her phone we thought we'd just be a bother. Ha.

When it came time to leave she dropped the check with no word and not even a "have a good night" as we walked by her at the door (again while she was on her phone)

We probably won't be back, there are many other better places...
