Unfortunately Iâve had a poor summer being a loyal Bagelry customer.. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt because the food IS good, but the whole customer experience is so far gone. For weeks now when you try to call in an order for pickup you have to call 5-6 times to not be put on hold (embarrassed to say Iâve waited over 20mins for my call to be answered and they forgot I was still on the line, probably assumed I would hang up) and no they are not busy, it sounds like teenagers just having a conversation in the back and donât want to take your callâŠ. I went in myself without calling ahead and witnessed my theory first hand. The staff doesnât care, theyâre chatting with their friends about evening plans (friends who donât even work there and just hang around the front room), itâs from customer service to general upkeep. For example, I saw another patron ask three times for a fork (the usual fork storage was empty which was pointed out to the staff) while the front desk girls chatted with a friend visiting while putting 2 calls on hold - I really hope that call wasnât her manager, but if it was I wonder if they would care⊠(no guests were in line waiting to be serviced/order). My feelings were validated when I overheard 2 other separate groups of guests muttering about âhow they let themselves goâ (they being The Bagelry) and âwhy do we even come here anymoreâ - Iâm wondering the same. Save yourself the visit and support another small business in...
Read moreI went to the Bagelry regularly for a long time and the bagels are great. Itâs right down the street from me and very convenient. The service was always fast and I was never disappointed with the food. I would also take my family there when they visited because you donât get good bagels in the Midwest, where I grew up. For what I always ordered at least, the pricing was fair and I have no complaints about it.
However, I will not be returning now; my last visit I walked in and one of the employees (possibly an owner) was on the floor having a totally inappropriate conversation with some of the customers regarding a group of people he clearly hates. I heard the whole thing and the point he was trying to make. Always avoid having those conversations at work, especially around customers . You never know who might be listening and it could cause harm to a business. Having grown up in a white bigoted community, breaking from its negative influence on me only when I was almost an adult, I now have no tolerance for this type of ignorance or hatred anywhere and will not put my money any place that harbors or is owned by people with...
Read moreI think this place should be renamed ârobberyâ instead of âbagelery â I ordered 1 omelette and two cream cheese bagel. Thatâs is and my bill after taxes and âtipâ for picking up my own food is $30. $30 for an omelette and 2 cream cheese bagel. If this isnât robbery what is. They charge 3% to use credit card. Then they beg for a tip. Like imagine robbing the customer of $30 and still it not being enough to pay their employees decent wages that they need to beg for a tip for a pick up. To me this just sounds exorbitant and fleecing the customer with junk fees. There is an equally average bagel place across the street and they wonât atleast charge you for using credit card. Ps: I have filed a complaint the my credit card company for the fees they charge. I pay a lot of money for annual fees for credit card, if I have to pay another 3% each time I buy something then either the credit card company isnât getting my money or I ainât buying in the first place. Everything has become a scam these days! Everything just sucks. A man canât have a simple bagel and cream cheese without having to consider he he needs to...
