Rascals Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Harlem Township

My husband, daughter and I went in tonight for dinner. The evening started out well and then went south very quickly! We were treated horribly and will never ever go back! My husband ordered the king prime rib. Before our food had come out the waitress came over and told us "it would be a few extra minutes on our food tonight because we are waiting for someone to take care of something". Her exact words. Ok no problem. Then our food comes out and my husband's prime rib was cold. He told the waitress and she took it back and a few minutes later brought his meal back. At this time we are unsure if it's the same prime rib or if it was replaced. Half way through the $30 slab of meat again too cold to eat!! The outer edges were warm but not the inside! He said something to the waitress about getting a discount....not free....a discount since it was too cold to eat. She came back a bit later and told us "the kitchen people said there was no way that it was cold and that there would be no discount given because it was too expensive of a meal to discount!" It's too expensive of a meal to not eat because it's cold!! I told the waitress you can touch the inside of the meat and see it's cold. She said "yes because it has been sitting here!!!" What nerve!!! My husband paid the $50 Bill leaving the waitress a minute tip and proceeded to the bar where the supposed manager was just to let her know how unhappy he was with the way he was treated. Her response was "I can call my manager"! Really! Apparently the kitchen help and waitresses are running this place and not too well in my opinion. We are business owners and would never treat our customers in such a manner!! Needless to say they just lost us...

I try to be empathetic due to lack of staff with Covid, but our experience went beyond that. Went last night with a group of work friends. We all straggled in a different times and all got drinks shortly after arrival. However things really slowed down after that. Our waitress was stretched thin between 3 large parties. We ordered fries for an appetizer, they came out cold. We also ordered jalapeño poppers that never came out. They didn’t give us any plates or silverware for the appetizers, we had to find someone to get that for us. After about 20 minutes of waiting for more drinks, someone else came over to take our second round drink orders only because we went to the bar and asked for assistance. She took our drink orders but then had the waitress deliver it and she didn’t know what drink was what and there was a lot of confusion. We ordered food at 7:15 and didn’t get our food until 8:45. The waitress reached across our table and got her sleeve in my friends salad. No third round of drinks. Two of us didn’t get our food. The waitress came back to check on us and didn’t even realize two of us didn’t have food yet. They comped those meals but we didn’t get to eat with everyone else and didn’t get them until 9:15. Then my friend found a hair in her order. We waited forever for the checks and everything was screwed up. You could tell the waitress was overwhelmed, but what really bugged me is the management never came over to assist or correct the situation with us. Rascals is a local sports bar and restaurant located in a great location in Rockford Illinois. Located at the corner of a major intersection which made it easy to get in and out. Another plus is that we were in a camper with a trailer tow behind needed lots of parking and the parking lot had ample parking. Our waitress Kaylawas very attentive and came to our table at least six times during our one hour dinner visit which was very attentive. I ordered an IPA which is really good and she kept our Waters filled throughout the dinner. My friend ordered the chicken gumbo as a side soup and he said it was very good. IPA was delicious 16 and 24 oz. my wife had the special work which was the Pineapple Express spinach wrap which is notable because it had large chunks of chicken which was very unusual and delicious however the pineapple jalapeno sauce was a tad bit too hot for the average person. The jalipeno peppercorn burger was larger than expected, very spicy. I opted for the steamed broccoli and I was completely full. This place was definitely very delicious good service and...
