Came back today to pick up their popular colossal fish sandwich. I'd describe the food as good, but not great. It's convenient and inexpensive so it's a good spot to grab some food if you're in the area. The customer service from the company is great. I'm still not the biggest fan of the food, though, but I'd definitely eat it if given the option.

The fish sandwich is quite large when you factor the fries and coleslaw into it. I really enjoyed this slaw; probably the best I've had from a chain restaurant. It's not overly creamy, has the right amount of tang, and is all around flavorful without being overpowering. The portion is great. The fries are okay but again, a pretty good portion. They would have probably been crispier if eaten at the restaurant so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt there.

The fish itself is cod, which I liked. Soft white bread goes well with sandwich and is not soggy. Good amount of cheese, but its not very flavorful. I added some salt and old bay spices from my home to the fish and the fries, and that really elevated the flavor.

Overall, a good sandwich spot. Very fair prices for a quick food spot and a classic Pittsburgh restaurant, but it has its down sides too. For the UI on the Primanti's app: I'd recommend a way to combine past rewards, which you can't do at the moment (ex - if you have the $5 reward from downloading the app, and $10 in points, combine them for $15 subtracted from total instead of only choosing to apply the $5 off or the $10 off).

Prior review:

Primantis is such a classic Pittsburgh restaurant. I'm surprised myself that I still haven't visited, despite being in the city for quite a while. I tried a very simple meal from them: personal size pizza with pepperoni and banana peppers, some cheese fries, and an unsweetened iced tea. The service was slow on my visit.

The pizza itself was pretty standard. Pretty good size, a bit crispy, but also a bit doughy. The cheese was fine and the sauce was a little on the sweet side. I like the crust. Price to portion wise, it was just standard. It had a fair amount of toppings. Honestly, there wasn't anything exciting about the pizza, so 3/5 stars.

Cheese fries were not very good. Most of them were limp, and all of them lacked flavor. A bit more salt or even pepper would go a long way. The cheese sauce didn't add any good flavor; it tasted like cheese whiz.

Finally, an iced here costs $3! Now, I understand that there is inflation, but the price for portion is way off there. Overall, I think Primantis might have good sandwiches (I haven't tried them yet), so I may go back for that. But, this experience was very disappointing and makes me reconsider if Primantis should be called a...

Up until the last 6 months I never once stepped foot into a Primanti Bros restaurant.

That being said, since i have that day around September this location has quickly skyrocketed to my most preferred restaurants. Especially the one server I've dealt with basically each time, a young man named Jaden, who is incredibly attentive, professional, and friendly all wrapped up in an awesome person that fits the job superbly well.

Now, for the food. Appetizer wise, several good choices. So far in my few visits I've had their Zucchini planks, bavarian pretzel, and Primanti sized fries (customized like the loaded fries with cheese sauce, bacon, and ranch). •The zucchini planks are perfectly fried with soft centers but crispy edges and the home style marinara dipping sauce is on the sweeter end but that's perfectly fine. •he big bavarian pretzel is famtastic since it tastes like a proper homemade sourdough which happens to be quite delicious with the honey mustard. •The Primanti sized fries are a large enough quantity to share with 3 or 4 people

I have had a few of their burgers and handhelds so far

•The Reuben, the corned beef is perfectly cooled, tasting almost slow smoked, the sauerkraut isn't too vinegary or too bland, has just the right amount of salty and still sweet flavor/textire making it a fantastic choice no matter what

•The Fried chicken sandwich is phenomenal. The chicken is flaky, and the breading gives it that I request that they make it more like a burger, because i love my veggies, and their veggies always seem to be quite crisp and fresh. They don't seem to mind special requests at all, you just gotta ask

•The Brothers Burger is also a wonderful choice. The beef seems to be a lean Angus choice, which for me is wonderful since i have to watch my cholesterol a bit, The egg and pastrami on top changes the flavor in a excellent fashion. i prefer mine medium well, but again they will honor a different request

•The Big Don handheld is amazing. The slightly crisped cooked edges of the meat(If you're a meat lover) gives the sandwich as a whole a wonderful blend of textures and flavor combos with every bite

All their food blends flavors in a resplendent manner. And the staff is wonderful. This is a great choice for yourself, you and a significant other, or a party group to dine in and have...

I am frequent customer of many primanti bros. And this was the worst experience I had ever had. Danielle was our server. She was very unprofessional, rude and confrontational. We placed our order, and noticed when the food came out the order was incorrect and food was missing. So we alerted Danielle and she said that's not my fault it's the cooks fault and ok. We assumed she was going to help in some way instead she ignored us and waited on other tables, taking photos of customers, We waited 10-15 minutes and asked Danielle again where is my food in which I did not receive and the rest of my table is almost done eating. She got angry and said don't yell at me I am getting a manager. 5-10 min later a manager appears and says what are you missing I will NOW have the cooks make your food. I said No. I have been here over an hour and my table is done eating and I still have received no food. I don't want it now. So the manager said I will take it off your bill. OF COURSE IF I DIDN'T GET THE FOOD IT WOULD COME OFF MY BILL. so that manager was also no assistance. She was at the end of her shift and didn't want to be bothered. Then Danielle brings the bills to me when I am in the front with a different manager. And I am asking for corporate information to report her she overhears and confronts me and starts to argument with me infront of the cooks, customers, coworkers, in which I was not accepting that type of behavior. They manager never intervened, and just kept apologizing to me. If this is how you run a business, and the representatives you have for it . It's terrible. Never have I gone to a restaurant to eat and Never received any of my food I ordered. And the staff got mad at me as if it...

Stopped in for lunch at one of the suburban Primanti Bros location. It had the classic black-and-gold Pittsburgh sports vibe with plenty of TVs, so if you’re coming to catch a game, you’ll feel right at home. Service was wonderful. We had Kylee. Excellent attention. Food came out in a decent time, though it wasn’t exactly piping hot. Had the iconic sandwich with fries and slaw piled right on — of course. It’s messy, bold, and definitely still a Pittsburgh staple, but it felt a bit “chain-ified” compared to the original shop. The bread was a little dry, and the fries didn’t have that fresh-from-the-fryer crisp. The pastrami was good though. Salty, smoky, just right. Wings were okay — sauced well, but kind of small. Onion rings were probably the best thing we had, super crispy and well seasoned. Overall, it’s a solid go-to if you’re craving that Primanti’s flavor and don’t want to drive into the city. Just don’t expect the grit and charm of the original.

Maybe I don't get it, since I'm not from PGH, but the Original Sandwich is good, but not great. The sandwich has a layer of pastrami, a layer of lightly vinegar based slaw, tomatoes, a light helping of French fries between two thick slices of soft white bread. I found the Original to be sort of bland. I was expecting more flavor in the sandwich; more juiciness and pop from the meat. The hand full of fries were a non-factor and the slaw actually carried the sandwich being the tastiest part. I even had to add salt to make it more interesting. As I said, good, not great. On the otherhand, my wife and her friend enjoyed their large salad plates. One Angus beef salad & the other grilled chicken salad. Both said it the salads were fresh & delicious.
