I have been frequenting Terry's Terrace probably since birth with family and friends and have seen many changes occur over the years. It has also been my local watering hole for 2 decades, now. Not once have I experienced bad or even questionable service at the bar, not once, especially during the evening hours when all of us crazies are out and about wreaking havoc. This place will always be my home bar, and even when I had ventured to other venues, I have always come back to Terry's, and Marybeth "MB" and Maureen "Mo" are the reasons why I come back. I am treated like royalty by everyone that works there, and there are some special people that work there, too many to name, but those two are specifically my bartenders and have been for almost a decade. I had read a negative review about Terry's where I questioned why there was an issue regarding the shirts that MB and Mo wear, one specific "Resting Bartender Face" shirt, and while I am not the distributor of this specific shirt, I am a distributor of shirts much similar to this, some even not suitable to even wear as an employee at a bar. While everyone is entitled to their opinions without objection, I believe these shirts actually create an environment with personality. Terry's, like any location or person for that matter needs to continue to evolve, and I don't see anything wrong with a little humor, especially if it cuts across the grain of mundane expectations of others that inhibit people that truly just want to be themselves, and the bar is where you should let loose and just be yourself. It's a bar...it's not a school, it's not work, and it's definitely not a church. It is an adult environment. People specifically go to that bar to forget about their hectic work day and life problems, have fun, meet with friends, dine, get intoxicated, and enjoy the atmosphere, and over the years, the camaraderie at that bar that has developed is second to none. I have stories from there that I will remember until I am long gone from this earth. I say allow this personality to continue as it lightens the mood, and enhances the atmosphere of Terry's, and frankly, the shirt isn't ridiculously offensive and I smile at it cause a sense of humor is essentially necessary and a great quality to have if you want to make any money in the service industry. If people find something offensive but they are in the minority of those being offended, perhaps that's not the place for those people, and there's nothing wrong with that, but to take away the characteristics and personality traits of the individuals who have bled, sweat, and cried working at Terry's, I have an issue with that. The people at a restaurant/bar make it whatever it is good, bad, or indifferent, and that includes the employees and the patrons. Let those people be who they are; it makes for a more...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. I used to vist frequently, but the last two experiences I've had were awful. Arrived to have dinner with my family of three Saturday evening. I understand they were busy as it's a Saturday evening and it was their "Holiday pop-up". I was told there was an hour to hour and fifteen minute wait. Understandable, waited in the arcade with our child. An hour and half passes and we follow with the hostess, they then realize we were missed on the list. The manger said we will seat you right away. Fifteen minutes later we were seated. Waited at our table for 20 minutes before a server stopped bye. My party of three then ordered three waters, a beer and asked for a kids menu. Waited another 20 mins for these. The server then brings two waters a beer and no kids menu. I then go get a kids menu myself. Our server returned I asked for the third water as requested the first time and we ordered since we figured it could take some time for the food due to it being busy. Another 50 minutes pass and our food shows up. Our server was MIA since putting our food order in. At the point my child nor my wife and I have anything to drink. Our server walks by several times but doesn't check in on our table. I finally had enough and found the manager. I explained the situation. The manager apologized and went to get us waters. My child's milkshake we ordered when we submitted the food order finally showed up, my child said it wasn't shake it was just milk, I tried it and it was just milk ($15 milk). This is now an hour after we submitted our food ordered. The server then noticed I went to the manager and all of a sudden seemed to me more attentive. I asked the server for a box and our check. I've had enough, at this point it was almost 10pm. I understand it was busy but there are several things that were preventable. Our server had way to many tables (7) and had no business having more than 3. This server could only hanlde one tables request at a time. I worked in the service industry as a server and manager in the past but this experience was ridiculous. Others were mumbling how awful the service was and also made comments once the manager walked past.
Spent over $100 (family of three) for mediocre food and...
Read moreI am so perplexed as to the glowing reviews for this restaurant. My sons and daughter-in-law took me there today for Mother's Day. DIL made reservations weeks ago and was never told when she made said reservations that we would not be able to order off the menu, that we had to have the buffet as it was the only option. Basically leaving us no choice at all when it is 12:30 on Mother's Day. Where else could you go at this point? Not cool and quite shady in my opinion as they charged my family $33 per person for cold, congealed food. Looked at the Chicken Picata, gravy congealed and cold, same with the Chicken Marsala. I did taste both and yes, both were cold. The Salmon was dry and totally tasteless. Did not eat any of them, just a taste of each and done with that. Put plate to the side and go look for something else. Ah, burned French Toast was my other option since the fruit and vegetables were empty. The only thing edible for any of us as we discussed while sitting there was the breakfast sausage. So, my family paid before drinks $165 for basically sausage. Total bill with drinks $240 for five people. When my daughter made these reservations, I did not want to tell her that I would not suggest going to Terry's Terrace as it was so sweet of her to do this for me. Two months ago, I had another bad experience there, but did not write a review at that time. I will now. My friend and I went there for breakfast. I ordered the Belgian Waffle and saw that for $2.50, I could get fruit on top of it, so I did order the fruit. My friend ordered the Eggs Benny. Her Benny came on with the egg yolks hard boiled on top and sent it back. What I received is what looked like an Ego waffle and 3, yes 3 blueberries on top for an extra $2.50. Not sure who is giving these glowing reviews, but either they are employees and friends or people who don't know or care about what good food it and the prices on top of that is just utterly ridiculous. NEVER will I go there again. BTW, checked the website when I got home and there is nothing at all stating that you can't order off the menu for Mother's Day. Shady shady...
