The waitresses was bothered from the beginning that we came in...to a restaurant...to eat. She did not write down our order and then forgot to bring my son his fries. After she threw the fries down and we never saw her again. My mom's french fries were laying in a puddle of grease. My steak and cheese was missing the cheese. The steak tasted funny and seemed like it was being seasoned with something extra to make up for the fact that it wasn't the best meat perhaps. As I was eating, I went to pick up the last bite of the first half of my 6-in sub and found an eyelash hanging on to the meat. When someone finally walked by our table to drop a bill and asked if we needed anything, I brought it to their attention that there was an eyelash in my food and needed to speak with someone. A different server came over with an updated bill. He stated that 25% of my sub was compensated and that they took off my to go sub that was for my husband's lunch, after I had stated I clearly don't want that now either. I did not feel that this was acceptable. No one came to apologize. A manager never came to the table to apologize or speak with me. And yet, I was still expected to pay for a sub that had an eyelash in it. When I went to the register to pay, the employee immediately had an attitude with me. I asked the employee why she didn't take both subs off. She explained to me that she took 25% off already. I replied that I don't feel I should have to pay for half of a sub that I unfortunately ate that had an eyelash in it . She smirked at me and replied, I thought you found the eyelash in the other half of your sub. I questioned how would that make the situation any better? She rolled her eyes , she huffed at me and said fine then, I will just take it all off. I understand that these mistakes happen. An apology and to be comped for my food with out explaining why I don't want to pay for eyelash meat would have been much better customer service. Will not...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at "The Galley Diner" in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and it was a delightful experience.

First and foremost, the diner offers plenty of seating in a large, open space. This is a welcome departure from the crowded and outdated downtown breakfast spots that often come with the hassle of parking and long wait times. As a JMU parent, I've explored many breakfast options in town, and "The Galley" is now my go-to breakfast spot.

The breakfast was exceptional, with generous portions and dishes served hot by experienced servers. My personal favorite was the caramelized bananas on top of the waffles, a delightful twist on a classic breakfast item. The coffee, served in large mugs, was excellent and promptly refilled when needed.

What truly set "The Galley" apart was the personal touch from the owner, who took the time to check in on our table to ensure we were enjoying our meal. It's not every day that you receive such attentive service.

Our party also sampled an omelette and pancakes, both of which were delicious and lived up to the high standards set by the rest of the breakfast.

Now, let's talk about the restrooms. They were impeccably clean, which is a rare find in diners. It's clear that the staff takes pride in maintaining a spotless environment, adding to the overall positive impression of "The Galley Diner."

Overall, "The Galley Diner" provided a wonderful breakfast experience with great food, friendly service, and a clean, spacious atmosphere. It's the perfect place to enjoy a breakfast without the downtown dining hassle, allowing you to focus on spending quality time with your student at JMU. It’s easy to enjoy a conversation where you can hear each other and not feel overcrowded This diner has certainly earned its place as “my new breakfast favorite” in...

This review is after two visits. A coworker recommended this place to me and initially I had a bad experience. The first visit I ordered a variety of breakfast and lunch items. The food was ok but the blueberry pancakes were undercooked. As soon as I cut them open raw batter flowed out. I did not call and complain or anything just dropped it. Everything else was ok. I spoke to my coworker about and he wanted me to give it another try. On 07/15/24 I ordered a breakfast skillet with pancakes. The skillet had mushrooms, onions, peppers, spinach and steak on their so called house fries. (Fried potatoes). I picked it up rushing to work and as I got to my desk, I tried to eat some. The potatoes were almost raw (some pieces were) there was almost no spinach (I counted about 4 pieces) and there was no steak. This time I did call and the service was good. They offered to return half of my bill. I am still waiting to see it. Overall the customer service was ok. I won’t return or recommend this place. Also if my coworker sees this I am sorry, I know you...

I pass by The Galley on Route 11 whenever I am in Harrisonburg. I had always been curious to try this small place that is always booming with business. The food was delicious, and the service was top-notch. I love this place's atmosphere because I feel like everyone knows each other; everyone in a small family is enjoying their meals. The server guided me with information before placing an order since it was my first time coming here. I placed the order, and the food came out quickly. Sadly, I did not stay to eat; however, I only came for takeout. The grilled chicken was flavourful, topped with bacon and a delicious bbq sauce. The cheese fries were tasty. They only have one flavor for the wings/ tenders; nevertheless, the server guaranteed me it was appetizing. I very much enjoyed everything from friendliness to the meals. I will be coming back to try their mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, and overall because their food and service were splendid.
