My family of four went to Donna's for the first time today. As we walked in a wall of foul smelling smoke hit us. The 'smoking section' is located right inside the door. For the non-smokers there is another room that is partially divided by half a wall. The smoke that wafted from the front was enough to choke a horse and ultimately gave me a headache before leaving. The hostess was less than friendly as she hurriedly ushered us into the back room so she could continue her conversation with a patron across the room. Our waitress was timely in taking our beverage order and she was friendly. After placing our order it took no less that 30 minutes for our food to arrive. I understand that they cook to order; however I've been to plenty of other places that do the same and the wait time isn't half as long. My daughters hamburger was good. My other daughter had french toast and she enjoyed that as well. I had biscuits and gravy, no complaints. My husband ordered an omelet. It looked like a crepe wrapped around ham and veggies, awful. Hands down he said it was the worst omelet he had ever tasted. The atmosphere is dingy and dusty. I love small town diners grit and all. This one however was a bit too dirty and musty. The food was average the atmosphere grotesque and the price for all of this was absurd. I only gave it two stars because our food was acceptable and our waitress friendly. I will never darken the door of...
Read moreNow called Jose's Cafe, but formerly Roosters, and before that called Donna's Diner. Google maps might have the location the next building over for some reason. But the same cook is in the kitchen. The most dive dining experience you will probably find in Harrisonville. Service was friendly and maybe even entertaining like a Coen brothers movie. They get a lot of repeat local business, especially with Harrisonville area seasoned patrons. Restaurant decor is amusing and offers character. Offers non-smoking dining, but you might leave smelling slightly smoky regardles. There is smokey bar in the back jamming a variety of music where you can eat also, play pool. Dining area is quiet and dim, there are a couple TVs. Salad bar temperature was well chilled and offered a couple unique options. I don't recommend the country fried steak dinner. I'm gonna guess they have good pan fried chicken and the pork tenderloin sandwich looked good. Cheeseburgers would be a safe order that won't disappoint. Breakfast was great and I recommend trying the "Breakfast Bowl". Restroom was clean. I uploaded the menu. Reasonably priced. They have a small outdoor basketball court. The bar has a side entrance, I believe they sell Lotto and you can play...
Read moreOkay, I'm a big tenderloin person. I've been hearing a lot of good comments and reading a lot of posts about how good this place is on their tenderloins. In fact, they even get a high rating at a Facebook page called pursuing tenderloins. Now, the only thing I want to say about this is before you put anything on this tenderloin, please take the time to taste it plain. The seasoning is fantastic. It's cooked to perfection. The thickness is right. This is in the top 3 of my tenderloins that I've ever had. If you go ask for Renee, she is a fantastic waitress. She's all over it and the curly, or I guess they call him. The Susie q's are really good. My only thing there is they could be just a little bit thicker. But they're still really good now.I have not tried anything else at this restaurant.Although I did see some pretty good dishes come out of the kitchen. But if you're looking for a tenderloin, I you're going to be hard pressed to beat this. You'll see a photo of the condiments like I said. Please try it before you put anything on it. It...
