I have been going to this restaurant since 1984/1985. Last night we had dinner with a couple that we haven't seen in a few years and I picked this spot for us. I had the beet salad which was out of this world. We also ordered the tenderloin meatball app. DELISH! The Salmon was ordered for the entree and hubby said it was the best Salmon dish he has ever had. The sauce really made the dish. I had the homemade fettuccine with lobster and crab with a very light cream sauce. Out of this world. The steak dinner was also ordered and it looked really good. We had cocktails first and then ordered a bottle a wine. You can go big on wine on $$$ but what I can say that they do very well is their wine selection for under $50.00 is really super. We ordered a Ridge Geyersville from Sonoma for $47.00 and they had another Ridge for $37.00. Those are great wines and I don't see them offered in other restaurants. It was Friday night and the place was packed at 6:30 and thinned out at 8:30 with just a few diners coming in. I have been there on theater night and suggestion on that is go to dinner after the theater crowd leaves. I have brought clients to the bar to celebrate after a closing because I love the bar and bar area. The service has never let me down. I have to say I am going to surprise my team this year for my Christmas party and have it at Peppercorns this year because the atmosphere and the food is just too good. After I finish writing this review I have to call and make the reservation. There is a parking lot adjacent to the building and you can park on the street which there is plenty of room. If you want a change from Max Downtown or TK - make the effort to drive just a minute more down Main Street and get the best surprise of your dining...
Read moreBrought my wife here for valentines day. First time eating here, I saw the 4.9 rating on OpenTable with over 2k+ reviews and thought this was a no-brainer. I might as well go buy a lottery ticket because my experience here was awful, and I am by no means "one of those guys".
I have absolutely 0 complaints about the food, it was phenomenal. But from start to finish was over 2 1/2 hours. I thought at first - hey, it's valentine's day, its busy...but I noticed tables that were sat around the same time as us were gone for almost 45 minutes by the time we got our food...and my wife and I both got the same dish - the short rib ravioli.
Our waiter Dennis was nice but very apathetic to our situation. I am not one to ask for the manager to complain...that's not me...but at the very least I would've appreciated a free round of drinks for our troubles. I get as the waiter he is at the mercy of the kitchen, but any sort of small gesture would've gone a long way. Given that everyone else was getting food except us, I thought our waiter likely forgot to submit the order to the kitchen. I've been a waiter... and I've been there. Even if I still blame it on the kitchen I still try and make it right...
Our reservation was for 7:15, we left just after 9:30. Based on what we observed, if we set our reservation for 8:30, we would've left at the same time. I am tempted to try this place again and chalk this up to bad luck but honestly I don't think I...
Read moreI first dined at Peppercorns on Valentine's Day 2016 with my husband and another couple. It was a very busy night at the restaurant, but our service and food were great. We returned last evening for another special night out and we were VERY disappointed! There were issues with 3 out of our four meals: the eggplant dish needed to be reheated and two of the meals' portion sizes were unacceptable.. I ordered an item from the special's list and both the description on the menu "Lazy Man Lobster" and the Maitre D's explanation of this dish made it sound like lobster would be the star of the dish. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when the the lobster barely had a cameo role. There were 2 teeny, tiny lobster claws amid potatoes, squash, cod and shrimp. When my displeasure was shared with the wait staff, I was offered more lobster. Another plate of food was brought to the table sometime later, but again the amount of lobster was insufficient for the meal's hefty $39 price tag. Our friend was also brought another meal when he complained about the small piece of salmon he had received. Based upon my meal, I would have given this dining experience a 1 star, but the wait staff did try to make amends by replacing the 2 meals and bringing a plate of biscotti. I will not be back to Peppercorns...
