Richie's Koffee Shop — Restaurant in Hastings

We heard this place had the best burgers, that’s a negative!!! The back room is musty smelling, yes the building is old but a good cleaning can eliminate some of the smell! We ordered burgers and Onion rings, The burgers were served to us in paper wrapping the onion rings were served in a basket. But wait … the waitress brought them out tucked in her armpit and was trying to read which one was which ! I was dumbfounded why the burgers were not served on a plate the waitress informed me that the burgers have always been served in a paper wrap. Your photos prove differently! One order of onion rings had 20 onion rings in the basket, the other order had seven onion rings in the basket. please make that make sense! So another order of onion rings was placed and in that basket we were served all the broken pieces as well as three full onion rings. I asked the waitress for a plate and she completely ignored me. One burger was returned because it was not cooked at all in the center. The other four burgers were very pink but choke downable ! My burger was nowhere near made to how I ordered it, but at a certain point you just eat what you got because you’re afraid to send it back. I definitely agree with the other reviewers the sanitary issues need to be addressed, when you bring my soda, don’t touch the rim of my cup ewwww! Have a bite to eat at Riches ummm thanks but no thanks! I’m sure at one time this was a great little diner, but not so much anymore ! Last but not least CASH ONLY??? This is 2024 no one carry's...

Just went in for a few burgers and fries. When I got there the cook was working on my order. As I’m paying, I see the cook pulling my burger off and setting on a dirty counter with a filthy sani rag right next to it. He takes the bun off, puts the toppings on and then rests his hand ON the filthy sani rag. I asked him to wash his hands before touching anything else. I asked the waitress why the cook isn’t wearing gloves and she says “some people don’t like to”. I’m baffled… is this not basic food safety?! I worked as a cook for a decade and have my state servsafe. And I don’t even need that to point of the safety concerns there. Not to mention, the waitress cooked my 4 orders of fries in 1 go. They came out filled with grease, soggy, and stuck together… I’m all for supporting local shops but food safety and quality food needs to be a priority. Don’t think I could stomach this place ever again.

I’ll add one side note of positivity.. the burgers normally do taste good. Unfortunately, on top of everything else.. the burger for my child was severely...

This is a slice of Americana. A quaint, historical looking diner in small town America. The food is average greasy spoon, which is exactly what I wanted and expected. The staff, however, ruined the experience. Without so much as a "hello" they told me and my 3 yo daughter to sit anywhere. Half of the tables still had dirty dishes on them, which hurt the allure of the atmosphere. She gave us one menu, and said it was the last one. We passed a large stack of menus when we came in. A terse, "what do you want?" Informed me it was time to order. After she dropped off the food, she was never seen at our table again. Yet, she had no problem visiting the nearby tables multiple times to chat, laugh, and talk to them by name. When I paid her with cash (they don't accept cards or checks) she shoved the change in my hand. I said, "thank you, have a great day."
