Eating at this establishment is a life changing experience! This is new Orleans or new York quality food in the heart of Mississippi!!
I am so glad we found this restaurant! Even the croutons on my husband's salad were amazingly delish!! The steamed broccoli was alive with flavor! So, you can't even imagine the layers of flavors in the dinner entrees!!
My pasta was a generous portion of perfectly saucesed deliciousness! The shrimp had its own flavor! The bread was the perfect compliment!
My husband's dinner was surf and turf grits! The grits we're good southern eat'm with a fork grits! The filet and shrimp each had there own flavors and the muchrooms were amazing!
My only regret was we did not have room to try desert!
The atmosphere was a little dark and moody. Perfect for a date with my handsome husband! We were seated with a view of the fountain of the mahogany bar patio. (A beautiful Oasis in the city).
I must sing the praises of the wonderful young man who waited on us!! He was so polite and professional! He made our experience Devine! He had never see us before but he treated us like his favorite customers! He explained the menu and accommodated special request, even led me through the crowd to the restroom, rather than just pointing through the crowd! We left a large tip because ha made out night amazing, and this young man followed us out side to say thank you!! We have never had that happen! It made our night! He was so amazing at his job! Lord, bless him to go far far in life! He certainly blessed us with a...
Read moreIt is with great regret that I feel compelled to write a review for a restaurant that I ordinarily look forward to spending time. On April 21, 2015, my daughter, boyfriend, and I came in right after a concert at the USM campus. My daughter had the craw-fish etouffee and found a long piece of something that we never were sure whether it was hair or plastic. Her boyfriend spent a lot of time talking with the waiter about different dishes trying to make sure whatever he ordered did not have jalapenos. He ended up ordering something like craw-fish tacos (a special) and again...he looked on the menu to make SURE it didn't have jalapenos but once the waiter (who should have had the forethought since he discussed so much of it in depth with him, to check or have it taken off) set it down on the table...her boyfriend spent at least 4 solid minutes trying to pick all the jalapenos out of it. My own dish which had pasta, shrimp, and craw-fish in a "light creme sauce", was so spicy (and I LOVE hot but this was ridiculous) I finally ended up having to throw away the left overs that I took home with me. But the piece DE resistance was the large egg shell that I found in my bread pudding with bourbon sauce. I've been going to this restaurant every single time I come to Hattiesburg to visit my daughter. It was my favorite place. But I have been, slowly, becoming increasingly frustrated with disappointing results of my expectations. This last trip was the final straw. I don't think we will be coming back...
Read moreThis is an honest review so you will read good and not-so good about our experience.
Our party arrived here based on two sets of reviews (yelp n google and 1200+ fairly good reviews)
We were seated. mmediately and our server was a super nice, bubbly young lady. She did a superb job all night long.
The appetizers were stellar. We had chargrilled oysters, fried green tomatoes, and Cajun wonton.
The gumbo needs work. It tasted empty like the roux or holy trinity didn't get enough love in the pot. (We all make great gumbo ourselves so we're picky). Unfortunately the same held true for the corn and crab bisque. So there was room for improvement in the soups.
I ordered an unusual Cajun enchilada which had flavorful hatch Chile's and shrimp but really it was a white cheese bomb. Would have loved more veggies.
My friends ordered shrimp and grits and a seafood "special" pasta. The staple shrimp and grits had good taste with a sort of ragout of shrimp and veggies on top. The same ragout which happened to be on the fried green tomatoes. The special was made from pasta, pesto and appeared to cooked with a base "sauce" coming from the same corn and crab bisque had earlier.
We considered this a sign of an efficient kitchen, but we might have preferred a more inventive kitchen with just a little extra effort which could have been something to REALLY talk about.
So keep up the good work and pay more attention to the foundations of your dishes.
We enjoyed our meal and...
