Unprofessional and extremely disappointing experience.
I typically donât leave reviews, but the lack of professionalism and basic customer service I experienced at Shirleyâs Donuts deserves to be shared.
A vendor placed a large $135.59 donut order on my behalf for pickup. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication on our end and the order wasnât picked up on the scheduled day. Thatâs on usâbut hereâs where Shipleyâs Do-Nuts completely dropped the ball. Despite having my contact information and the vendorâs, no one from Shirleyâs ever attempted to call or follow up to say, âHey, your order is sitting here waiting.â The donuts were presumably just left to sit or be tossed.
When I realized the mistake a couple of days later, I took the initiative to call Shirleyâs myself. I explained the situation and asked if I could come pick up a replacement order the following week. The staff member I spoke with was polite, took down my number, and assured me it would be âno problem at all.â Based on that conversation, I assumed the issue was resolved and I could simply pick up the replacement order as discussed.
When I arrived on the rescheduled pickup day, I was met by a young female manager who had an incredibly unprofessional and rude demeanor. She informed me that if I wanted donuts, I would have to pay for a second order. I was completely blindsided. This was never mentioned during the call I made the week before.
At the very least, why didnât anyone from Shipleyâs Do-Nuts call me to clarify this before I made a special trip? I left my number for exactly this reason. If they had simply said, âWeâll need to charge you again,â I would have at least been informed and couldâve made a decision accordingly. Instead, I was met with a bad attitude, zero accountability, and no resolution.
In the end, I left with no donuts, no refund, and $135.59 wasted. The entire situation could have been handled so easily with a phone call or even a shred of proactive customer service. Mistakes happenâweâre all humanâbut the refusal to communicate, take responsibility, or even speak with a basic level of courtesy is what makes this experience so frustrating.
I wonât be doing business with Shipleyâs Do-Nuts again, and Iâll be sharing this experience with others to save them the same hassle. If this is how they handle customer issues, Iâd think twice before placing any kind of...
Read moreTheir kolaches are so-so. not baked for long enough under a low temp, so the ingredients dont "blend together". And their bread wasn't fresh. I love kolaches, most Shipleys make them really well, and fresh too - this one doesn't. They are also more expensive than other Shipleys. For coffee, they hide their half and half milk/cream, so if you want some, you'd have to ask for it. They prefer you use the powdered creamer. BEWARE: And then their wifi doesn't work - They (no one there) dont know the right password for the main network, and the guest network had no internet access (when i was there, and apparently for a week before that). Make sure to test it out first. I only asked (first thing i did when i walked in), and they said it worked, then i stupidly (in retrospect) ordered coffee and sat down (instead of heading to closeby reliable Starbucks for a latte, down the road with my kolaches), only to realise it didnt work after i sat down. When i confronted them, the same lady who told me their wifi was working told me she hadn't been able to log in...
Read moreDonuts and other items made fresh daily. Always fresh. Most employees always friendly. Rarely go into the building. It's faster to walk in. But I am handicapped so use the drive through. Only issue I have with them is the parking lot and drive through area desperately need to be repaved and lines redone. And the concreted area that is raised up out front should be removed would give them 2 more parking spaces out front. And i am sure most people do not know that there is more parking spaces on the side street. But once again, repair and reline so obvious. But I have never had a problem with there food. Go there over all others because they have cake donuts. Which i prefer. And most donut shops do not make anymore. So they loose my business right there. Besides Shipley Do-Nuts are most delicious. And don't cost an arm and a leg. So what they don't have a flashing sign that says they are hot. Don't have to be hot when they are...
