The food was really good and so was the atmosphere- inside. Outside not so much, parking is a disaster on a busy Sunday, but they’ve done good work with what they were given property wise. The dish I ordered wasn’t particularly my favorite, but I did try my partners plate and my friends plate and the portobello burger is definitely something I would return for. I love ‘Ai Love Nalo’s mission and their commitment to serving plant based meals, however I did feel like they didn’t value mine and my party’s service very much. Maybe they were really busy or that’s just how they roll. I ordered a salad and it came seriously underdressed, so when the food runner returned I asked if I could get a side of my preferred dressing. I was told I had to pay for the side of dressing so I decided what the heck no big deal, in order to enjoy my salad I’m gonna need it to be properly dressed. With this restaurant being a walk up and order style restaurant I didn’t want to wait the long line just to get extra dressing when the rest of my party was already enjoying their meals. I decided I would go to the kitchen window directly and ask the chef for a side of dressing and explained my salad was very underdressed and I didn’t want to wait in a 10+ person line to pay and then wait for it to come. She understood and told me if I had a dollar she would be willing to give me a side of dressing. Luckily enough I had a single on me and went back to the kitchen window only for her to give me a 2oz plastic ramekin half way full of salad dressing. I was just like c’mon. I work customer service also and if someone’s salad was underdressed I would have just given them a complimentary side of dressing, and sent them on their way. But I got some heavy stingy vibes from the kitchen. Long story short the only part of my experience that wasn’t particularly awesome was when I was told that for a dollar I could get a side of dressing for my underdressed salad and I didn’t even receive a full 2oz ramekin of dressing that I paid a dollar for... This is a good quick stop for vegans and plant based eaters and they have a pretty tasty menu. It’s a tad pricey and they’ll charge ya extra where they can, but it was overall a good experience. I will be returning to ‘Ai Love Nalo and next time will get the portobello burger instead of the salad hahah. It was all really minor, no big deals. The staff was friendly and the...
Read moreThis review is about the poor service, insulting actually, not the food. After waiting 15 mins for anyone to check on customers, I finally got up and went to look outside to see if I could find someone to ask for help. The only person I saw, a lady finally comes in with people's orders so I softly asked her for some ranch thinking she'd tell me "after I serve this food" instead I got " can't you see I'm busy"! I said "ok, can I go get some myself"? She barated me yelling at me "no". I was coming from a kind place seriously trying to help her. This woman is not meant for customer service! I never got the ranch instead she sat down ignoring that I ever asked for anything. The most rude customer service in my life to date! I paid tip front with my order. So that's how they get away with being obnoxious to customers, they don't accept cash and the tip option is automatically a part of the credit card process when you first buy the food but you can say none, but this is before you are served. When I first ordered she told me she had moved from l.a. about 3 or 4 years before. I don't get that kind of rude service in l.a. The island has not done her very well if she's that mean. Will stay away from this place! It's not very difficult to be nice and for being busy rather than yelling...
Read moreʻAi Love Nalo is more than just a vegan restaurant — it’s an experience. We sat in the back garden area, which is open and surrounded by all kinds of plants: coconut, soursop, noni, lime, mango, banana, and other decorative greenery. You hear the birds singing, and the whole place feels peaceful and alive.
I loved it so much I even took off my sandals to walk barefoot — grounding myself and really connecting with the earth. That moment made me feel calm and refreshed, and honestly, we ended up sitting there for a while just enjoying the environment, even more than talking about the food.
As for the food, everything was colorful and fresh, but our absolute favorite was the BBQ Mushroom Sandwich — so delicious, flavorful, and satisfying. We also tried a few other dishes (see photos), and everything was beautifully prepared.
ʻAi Love Nalo is definitely a gem on the Windward side of Oʻahu. If you’re looking not just for a meal but for an experience that connects you to nature while enjoying wholesome plant-based food, this is...
