Update #2:
I've been back more than once. I like that they sell Tikka Masala sauce on the side. I love to dip bread in it. However, the Malai Kofta was terrible. I used to like it, but not anymore. The sauce needs to be run through a food processor some more. It's gritty and not very flavorful. The kofta are just average at best.. kind of dry and clumpy. Very light on flavor. I only taste something after chewing a bit.
Updates #1:
Is there a new chef here? I ordered Palak Paneer which I've had before and it wasn't that good. I don't like it as much as I did last time. I tried Vegetable Biryani and didn't like it at all. I would not get that again. I removed 1 star on my review.
I will have to go back and try some of my favorite dishes to see how they vary from last time. Paneer Tikka Masala or Malai Kofta.
I noticed their website went down for a month or so and now they have a new website. The new website sucks. You can't read the menu on a mobile phone it's all blurry. On a desktop computer you can't zoom in, so the text is too small to read. Only way to see the menu is click Order Now button.
I've got other issues, but I'll save those for another time.
Original review:
Food is decent and I'd go there again. The to go containers they give you food look small, but the amount of food is a decent amount.
For an appetizer I tried the Vegetable Samosas. They were good. Good size as well.
For entrees I got three different things to split and have others try. I got mild because of the other people, but I think you should get at least medium otherwise the flavor is a bit lacking something. Even the other person said next time get medium.
Malai Kofta (vegetable/cheese balls in gravy) - I really liked this. Good amount of vegetable/cheese balls in there and the korma sauce was really good.
Baigan Bharta (mashed eggplant) - I've had better, but this was alright. Like I said I would have preferred medium.
Lamb Korma - This is the same sauce as the Malai Kofta above, but with chunks of lamb instead. I got this because someone here likes meat, but I should have got something else just so I have a different flavor going down my mouth. However, the lamb was cooked nicely. I really enjoyed this.
The only thing I did not care for is Gulab Jamun. I don't think it's their fault. I just think I don't like it. My Mom said it was very good. It's a ball made out of milk and cheese soaked in syrup.
Only place on this side of the island to get Indian food. I'll be back for some pakora and one of the paneer...
Read moreThe DISSERVICE I experienced actually deserved a MINUS ONE star rating but it’s not fair to the chef that I give such a low mark. I will say that my Indian restaurant service experiences on Oahu as well in Singapore and Pasadena OVER THE LAST TWO DECADES of my life have been mostly positive. I was shocked at the disgust— and I mean outright repugnance and revulsion— that the man who took my order showed me in every aspect of his being: his refusal to step within 10 feet of me at first (he actually planted himself firmly where he stood and stared at me while I waited politely to be greeted at the front door), his harsh glare, his irritated and impatient tone of voice (which he wrote off to being frustrated that he couldn’t hear my voice from behind my mask), and his belittling me for not knowing how to read and interpret the lunch break between 3:00-5:00 sign on the door (EVEN THOUGH I KNEW WHAT IT MEANT). He refused to make eye contact with me and spent most of the time trying to resolve an he was having with his payment system issue and talking to a coworker. He wouldn’t even so much as look at my hand giving him the cash, so I put it on the counter close to him. He then handed me over entirely to his coworker. The food came out really fast! One positive! I tried to graciously excuse myself to the coworker for coming so close to their lunch break hour but he practically walked away from me as I was talking to him. One took everything I said to mean the wrong thing and the other one wasn’t about to try to make things better even after I showed irritation.
I would never come back for that horrible service, but the food was pretty good. The sauces for the kulcha tasted almost store bought, though. The pakoras were delicious but overcooked and burnt. The chicken biryani was good. Nothing outstanding. The mango lassi tasted like frozen fruit with a powdered mix. The raita? for the pakoras was super thin and liquidy but tasted okay.
Nobody made sure that I had utensils in my to go bag, but I didn’t want to ask them for any cause I wanted to get out of there so badly! I went to the health food store to get some and there was an Indian couple standing in line in front of me with a takeout box that looked like it was from the restaurant. I asked them if they were mistreated by the man at the restaurant to which they replied, “no.” They told me that I should definitely give him a negative review....
Read moreFirst of all the staff was very friendly. Ordered the tiki masala, medium heat and garlic naan. It came with a small portion of delicious rice. Chasing Medium heat was perfect for me, spicy but not too hot. Have to say this was the BEST naan bread I’ve ever eaten. Perfectly crispy on the bottom, yet soft and so flavorful on the top. No burnt garlic, as I’ve gotten elsewhere. As for the chicken in my tiki masala, unfortunately the chicken was very dry. The sauce was good, a little more warm spices than I typically like, but it was good. As for the atmosphere, the booth I was seated and had a bright light right above it And the restaurant itself was not extremely welcoming. I’ve noticed this a lot of her here in Hawaii. So I wasn’t Super disappointed. Other than that bright light. Also, I didn’t have anyone really come back to my table and ask if everything was OK or if I’d like to have dessert. I think they made a missing on some revenue by not Suggesting certain beverages and also desserts. Definitely good value for the money. I took half of my meal home with me and reheat it for lunch and it was As good if not better today. I would recommend reheating any of Me, Meet entrées On the stove top and if you happen to get some of the delicious naan and have an air fryer, that’s the way to go. All in all I would definitely recommend.KAMANA Kitchen One more thing, it’s kinda hard to actually find the restaurant. There’s a sign in the plaza that’s not lit up. No signage pointing down a Type of alleyway where the restaurants are located. I could smell the food, but couldn’t find the restaurant until I asked someone who was in the...
