Thelma's restaurant is a Filipino food establishment in waipahu off of farrington highway. Who is recommended to me buy an employee at foodland in Pearl City.
My wife wanted to eat a vegetable dish called Pinabet. And I wanted to have some chicken adobo fried rice. And we ordered vegetable lumpia and banana lumpia.
I ordered on the phone and I picked up at the restaurant. It was 2:00 p.m. and the restaurant was empty. My order was waiting for me
The Pinabet is what my wife wanted. She rated at 8 out of 10 Stars. It has a traditional taste that she was looking for.
I ordered chicken adobo fried rice. iPhone 7 pieces of bone in, and the flavor wasn't that good it was kind of bland it could have been better I'll give it one star out of five.
The vegetable lumpia was old and oily. It should be crispy and delicious but it wasn't.
The banana lumpia was fresher. It was crisp and it was tasty that was good.
My feeling is that they make cafeteria style food that sits around for a while. It's not really fresh food cook to order. This was a disappointment don't spend your money at Thelma's And don't spend your money at Max's of Manila, because it's racist. If you're not Filipino you're not going to get good service. We waited in line for like an hour and Filipino people passed the spine and went right in the restaurant just because we're Japanese we were treated as second-class citizens. Max's of Manila is racist.

Read moreHow can you not love Thelma's?! It's old school, good ole Filipino grub and if you like Filipino ears then you'll like Thelma's! It's a no frills kind of joint. Very affordable for the portion sizes.
Services can be slow at times but not their fault. I think it's due to the excessive amount of call in orders that they receive. But the workers are so nice and sweet, you can't possibly get mad at them. Just have some water and know when your food does arrive you will be doing the happy dance. Seating is decent. We've never really had to wait more than 15 min for a table on the high end.
I always get the 3 choice, going with pansit, Thelma's special and pork adobo! OMG those three items make my mouth jump for joy! The flavors are great. The adobo is so tender and juicy. Thelma's special is so nice with the tomato and onion and crunchy lechon...mmm making me hungry just thinking about it. And pansit is pansit, just done forget the line and you're set!
Although it's located in a pretty large strip mall, parking can be an issue sometimes. I guess because there's just a lot of good food throughout it. We love Thelma's and if you like Filipino food that doesn't break the bank then you too will...
Read moreOkay, so I went with two older ladies who are Visayan and have been there apparently quite a bit. So yeah, we might have gotten more preferential service than if I went alone. But, the service was very sweet in general, even with the other tables I noticed. Biggest lure seems to be the all you can eat buffet. It's a pretty small one, though.
Lechon Kawali was bright and fresh and the skin was well rendered. Lumpia was crispy and not overly greasy; sauce was basic but a nice complement.
The Halo Halo is the size of a child's head, so be prepared to eat something very cold very quickly. Not really an individual kind of serving. Then again, maybe that's all you want for the day. In which case, yes, it's an individual serving. ;)
A pretty clean and bright, if old, establishment.
Bathroom available on site. Unisex and just the one though.
Free parking, although it gets very tight. Be prepared to park on-street in the little road in front, running parallel to Farrington Highway, during dinner hour.
Accepts credit cards.
Will return for the buffet. When I go, though, everybody always orders a la...
