Tropical Dreams Kapaa — Restaurant in Hawaii

Believe me, the ice cream is the best, my family and I have been going there as long as they've been around and would give this review a 5 star if their customer service was just as good as their ice cream. Their workers are the worst, so horrible. We enter and the 2 "YOUNG" girls are talking story not even acknowledging that we're there. Mind you no one else is in there. Ok, fine, this gives us time to figure out what we want. We're ready to order and they don't even ask us what would we like, they look at us like we're an interruption to their conversations. My 10 year old daughter orders, my husband orders and are handed their ice creams. Im the last to order and mines get slid across the counter and it hits my wallet and my hand and the ice cream gets on everything. This is when i say politely, "excuse me, you didn't have to slid it to me that way". The girl just stares at me and don't apologize but gets the nerve to say, i didn't mean to do that and that Im taking it the wrong way. By then, im upset and then have to ask her how much my total is and she doesn't answer me but then tells me to look at the register. I then tell her that she's very disrespectful and where's her manager, she says that im fighting with a 15 year old, doesn't want to give me the managers number because she doesn't think that he wants me spamming his phone. So i ask for my money back for 1 of the ice creams and she tells me to leave. Wow!! Is this how we teach our kids, to be disrespectful, regardless if your a different race, from here or not or whatever age u are? Tropical Dreams is the best ice cream I have ever had - bar none. I hopped over from Oahu to visit for about a week. My friends and I were staying up in Princeville, but as soon as we discovered this place we made it a daily ritual to come down to Kapaa for ice cream after hiking or snorkeling. No one else does the flavors of Hawaii better. Best Ube, Coconut, Macadamia, Lillikoi, Lychee, & Guava ice creams around. Both the Thai Tea and Earl Grey Tea ice creams literally haunt my dreams. I feel certain they had P.O.G. flavored ice cream one time too. I spent months back on a Oahu hunting for anything remotely close after that Kauai trip and was let down constantly. I’ve moved back to the mainland since and STILL have never had any ice cream shop here top Tropical Dreams. They rotate flavors all the time - new ones show up weekly from Big Island - so if something doesn’t impress you one day, go back the next, or the day after. They might be out of Blueberry Freckle (tasted just like a blueberry muffin) but have put out Lilikoi Cheesecake instead swoon - anyone who tells you that this ice cream it’s just “ok” had no tastebuds and they...

I have watched this place change ownership couple times. We always love the ice cream. However the employees are the WORST!! One night after fun factory we went for ice cream, both girls ignored us as we walked in so i asked hello. And i asked to sample the cake batter ice cream, the girl completely had a irritated face and gave me a tiny speck of the cake batter ice cream. I made a comment and she just ignored me i couldn't believe it, i couldn't taste it at all. Never went back for almost a year, until a couple of days of go the line for Wailua Shave Ice was long so we decided to try out Tropical Dreams again, WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE AGAIN!!!! As we walked in, no line the girl was on her phone with her legs up in the back area, didn't say hi and we just sat there for about 3 min. Unreal!!!
