Tried this place again after not having the best experience a year ago…. And sadly we were disappointed again. I ordered a flavor I had before but it was made completely different and it was NOT good. Ordered the Love Potion #9. There was a TINY portion of chopped strawberries on top (usually they are all over) a light drizzle of strawberry purée on top (again usually all throughout) and A LOT of vanilla milk over shaved ice (usually this is not the main flavor - or the only one in mine) In less than a minute -maybe 5 small bites- there was zero strawberry and ONLY some milk syrup with a little too bc much vanilla flavor (think vanilla exact poured directly in milk). I went back to the counter and said there is really nothing in here but milk and ice can I add another flavor like root beer? I even offered to pay extra and they said they are not allowed to mix flavors. (That’s ridiculous, who doesn’t mix snowcone flavors?!) They did offer more strawberry purée but there was very little flavor in that so I ended up just throwing it away - customer service here could use some improvement and don’t order the flavorless Love Potion #9. Tip for the owner - if a customer is disappointed in what they were served and you don’t want to “mix” flavors- then offer to make a different one. It goes a long way. We have a business in town and we will no longer be recommending your business. We can’t risk our guests having a...

Wailua Shave Ice is a delightful hidden gem on the island of Kauai that offers a refreshing escape from the tropical heat. Located just a short distance from the stunning Wailua Falls, this charming spot serves some of the best shave ice I've ever tasted. The texture of the ice is incredibly fine, allowing the vibrant syrups to soak in beautifully.

What sets Wailua Shave Ice apart from others is their impressive selection of flavors. Whether you prefer classic options like coconut or strawberry, or more exotic choices like passion fruit and lychee, there’s something for everyone. You can also customize your treat with delightful toppings such as mochi, condensed milk, or even fresh fruit, taking your shave ice experience to the next level.

The service is friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as you enjoy your treat. The laid-back atmosphere adds to the overall charm, providing a perfect spot to relax after exploring the surrounding area. If you’re visiting Kauai, make it a point to stop by Wailua Shave Ice—it's the ideal way to cool down and indulge in a sweet Hawaiian tradition! Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone looking to satisfy their...

This is the place to take your family and friends that think that Hawaii has Shaved ice… it’s SHAVE ice around here. There is a big difference and if you don’t know what the difference is go here… you will find out. Shaved ice is sloppily grinded ice with artificial flavors added in a syrup or juice form. SHAVE ice is a delicately formed pile of ice that has literally been shaved (don’t get confused) to the finest extent and then topped with love and amazingness. Yes, you are going to spend $10 on $.75 worth of ingredients, but it is so delicious that you most likely won’t care. Only reason for missing a star is the staff. Bunch of little girls who are definitely on island time… not stopping me from going back, but worth noting that they aren’t too concerned about cleaning up the areas provided to sit and enjoy your sticky and messy (for little ones) treat. Wipe the tables once in a while. I understand there is lots of volume, but clean place to eat is important to me. I had to clean the table myself which I don’t mind doing, but that part...

And I’m currently planning my 3rd visit 🤫 Comment KAUAI and I’ll send you the Google my maps I put together for this trip with some additional spots to check out if you have time 🙌🏼 WHERE TO STAY: - if I was to go back I would split up my time and do half on the sunny side (southern half) and half on the northern side - if you only want to book one accommodation, pick Kapa’a as your base since this is close to a halfway point and has a ton of great places to eat - if you’re okay splitting, I recommend 3/4 days in Poipu and 3/4 days in Princeville/Hanalei area. This will give you easy access to Waimea Canyon and the Na Pali coast/Kalalau Trail WHAT TO DO: - hike the Kalalau Trail to Hanakāpī’ai beach or falls (you need a permit for the shuttle or parking lot if you aren’t a resident) - hike Sleeping Giant - drive Waimea Canyon and hike at the top - visit Hanalei Bay for shopping, the beach, and to watch sunset at the pier - kayak Wailua River to Secret Falls (you can do a tour or rent your own) - do a whale watching tour (Dec - Apr) or a sea cave/coast tour (May - Nov) from Port Allen (@kauaiseatours was amazing!!) - visit the Kilauea Lighthouse to see native birds, whales (if you’re lucky) and numerous other wildlife - do a beach day at one of the many beaches on the sunny side or in Kapa’a - we loved Lydgate Beach - hike Moalepe Trail and check out the swing - hike the Wai Koa Loop and swim in the reservoir *PLEASE follow Leave No Trace and ALL signage as it relates to proper etiquette on the trails here. This is an island with a fragile ecosystem and ensuring we don’t transfer seeds or invasive species to new parts of the island is ESSENTIAL. WHERE TO EAT: - @sushigirlkauai has some of my favorite poke - @hanaleipoke so so good - @kilaueabakery for some of the best baked goods I’ve had in a long time - @avalongastropub for a nice dinner - @javakaikauai to satisfy your caffeine needs - @wishingwellshaveice or @wailuashaveice if you want to try shave ice - @japanesegrandmascafe before whale watching or sea cave excursion - @holeygraildonuts if you love yourself at all #kauaifood #kauaieats #kauaiactivities #hawaiitrip #explorekauai
