The Front Porch Pub — Restaurant in Hawthorne

This was my first time at the Front Porch but will be a while before I try again. First off, It took 25 minutes for a server to take our drink / food order and only after we got their attention (no one came over to us). It took another 30 minutes before even the drinks arrived, again, only when we finally asked about them. Three of us ordered cocktails posted on the menu which sounded very good, but turned out to be AWFUL. The spicy margarita tasted like it was seltzer and lime mixed together, and the hibiscus mule had way too much hibiscus syrup. The bartender clearly was backed up and had all of the wrong measurements in making a decent cocktail. We ended up replacing the cocktails with wine instead.

Food was ok. Wings were their specialty and those were the best thing we ate. That said, when the food finally arrived, we didn’t even have silverware to eat it! Had to remind the waitstaff to bring it. We were sharing and it also came out all at once (appetizers and entrees) when we asked for it to come in courses and the waitress made a point in the beginning that the food would come as it was ready. Needless to say, the table got cluttered with plates quickly.

Then, one of the items we ordered was placed incorrectly and it never came out. The waitress apparently made a mistake and offered to rectify with a free round of tequila shots. Our group had no interest in tequila shots in that 2 of us weren’t even drinking, and nothing else was offered or comped.

When the bill finally arrived, the original 3 drinks and the item that never came was still charged, as well as an additional glass of wine we didn’t order. We had the manager correct multiple times to get it to the right amount.

Came for my cousins 21st birthday and was very disappointed with our service. Our waitress was not friendly and when we asked for drinks that are listed on their website menu she rudely said she’s never heard of it. She also informed us that that was not the restaurants website (it was). She did not write down any of our drink or food orders. When she brought some of our drinks over (all soda products), they were wrong, presumably because she did not write any of them down. After we had put our food order in, she came back and told us they were out of salmon, which two of us ordered, which she could have informed us of in the first place. The birthday girl was really looking forward to having salmon since she has food sensitivities. We chose to leave after all of this and she didn’t seem to care and was not apologetic. We all work in food service ourselves, and we get things happen that are out of the servers control, but the experience as a whole was very poor and if the service was better, this wouldn’t...

The food and cocktails were great but it was unfortunate that my table was asked to leave even though we kept ordering rounds of food and drinks because another table had made a reservation. I understand seating is limited due to Covid but then dont take reservations because it is extremely rude to ask paying customers to leave as they are enjoying their time and spending money. This is the first time I have been out with a group of friends since the pandemic started and we would have continued spending money but to be asked to leave because another table was coming is ridiculous. After we had asked for the check a table of the same size got up to leave so they would have had room to service both my table and the new one. It's unfortunate that they would rather have use leave than continue growing our $200+ check. Service was okay but very inattentive for only having such limited seating.
