I'm sorry - I shouldn't really be writing a review of Professor's since I haven't been there in 32 years, but I couldn't resist saying something... I went to college at Fort Hays back in '83 to '87 and used to go there for salads back in the day. I was showing a friend on Google maps where I went to college, and HAD to look up some of my old haunts from back then. Imagine my happiness to see that Professor's is still in business!!!! Of course back then it was known as Professor Pittewurst's. They had THE BEST SALADS back then hands down. And funny, from reading the reviews, it sounds like the salads (and all the food) are still amazing after more than 30 years! I live in New York now, but when I come back to Kansas to visit family I'll try to make it out to Hays -- and will of course stop at Professor's! Long live Professor...
Read moreWe love Professor's! In fact, I am now known as the "Tomato Soup Lady." It's my favorite! I do order other items, but their tomato soup is by far the best soup I have ever had. We also love to buy their honey. They sell honey that they harvest themselves. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere if you want to have a relaxing lunch or if you are in a hurry, you can call ahead and pickup your order. The staff is always friendly and the food is always good. Also, they have meat and veggie options, which is nice. Finally, to top things off they give you complimentary cookies...

We had the tomato soup. It was made with fresh, organic tomatos and was definitely home made. We also had the BLT on Texas Toast. It was a simple sandwich but it was packed full of bacon. We had the honey lemonade; it was very good.
The meal came with two complimentary cookies. They were made with whole grains and laced with honey. They were nothing special.
Overall the meal was great but $25 for two sandwiches does seem...
