Verdant Bistro — Restaurant in Hays

I came in with my 2 daughters because I saw great reviews! The service wash trash I am a server and the service we got was terrible!!! We had bugs crawling on the window we were seated at no big deal. The server took care of that I asked for prices on certain items she quoted me $7 for a mock tail and spiked was “$7 or $8” cool got my drink it was a great drink ! Then ordered got our food EVERYTHING WAS BURNT I asked the server is it supposed to be burnt she said “ oh haha maybe he just left it in the fryer too long” Mind you this is my first time here we ordered Brussels sprouts couldn’t even eat half of them because they were burnt so bad then my chicken parmigiana was hardly edible being so burnt I couldn’t even cut into it. She brought me the bill and the drink she quoted “$7-$8” was $10 she didn’t ask if we wanted the meal remade she simply laughed and said that’s how it’s supposed to be. I’ve never been to a “restaurant” or bistro where the food is supposed to be inedible burnt to crumbles and expected I didn’t want free food I just wanted a good meal for my daughters and I and this was The worst place I could’ve picked 10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE And the serve had no clue what to suggest on the menu nor did she know any of the prices or up charges !! Way to run your “BISTRO” bc it’s literally BULLSHIT . Oh and the kids hamburger was $7 was literally the size of my thumb don’t put on your menu a hamburger put a SLIDER so people know what...

We had a group of four that enjoyed dinner at Verdant Bistro. The atmosphere was both upscale and relaxing. No screens or loud music. You could enjoy the conversation. The service was impeccable. Our server was very knowledgeable about all of the dishes and could answer any of our questions. The menu also included vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. We had an appetizer, four different entrees and three different desserts; and all the dishes were absolutely delicious! The presentation was elegant and beautiful! Everything is made in-house and sourced locally. The bill for the food came to under $100. This is definitely a hidden gem in Hays! We will be back and recommending it to all of...

I’m going to give it one more try because of all the good reviews. Maybe we hit an off night or the not so good things on the menu. It is very strange how many good reviews this place is receiving when the food my wife and I received was not that great, borderline gross. There was something wrong with the kitchen the day we came maybe? The drinks, atmosphere, and service were wonderful. The food was over salted and the tuna steak had lots of salt on it and was way overcooked. It’s beyond me why you would put any salt on such a wonderful cut of fish.
