SPOILER ALERT: IT WAS MY MOM’S BIRTHDAY AND YOU MANAGED TO UPSET A FAMILY OF 4. Don’t believe me? See the rest of the reviews from my family on google & yelp.
I needed to find a restaurant that I can eat at due to my dietary reactions (Gout and Ulcers). My parents expressed interest in eating at Hinata because of the “all you can eat”
So I called 1 week prior. A gentleman told me that my dietary restrictions won’t be a problem. That I can order from the menu by each plate. Or I can choose not to eat as well, as long as my family is happy. I answers yes. Excited by this, I was looking forward to coming, since I used to come to Hinata before the dietary restrictions.
So I planned to order miso soup, along with rice and maybe cooked foods.
TODAY, we walked in promptly around 6:15pm. My parents and partner were going to order “all you can eat” as discussed over the phone. I was preparing to order my miso soup, rice, and other cooked items.
The waitress came up to me. I told her about the phone call. She told me I had to sit seperate from my family BECAUSE THEY NEEDED TO ENSURE THAT I WONT BE EATING THEIR FOOD. My Mom told her, “it’s ok, he can’t eat our foods because he will feel sick. He won’t eat our food.”
But she insisted I move away from my parent’s table.
After moving, my dad said “how disrespectful that is. And that he doesn’t feel like eating here.”
My mom (AGAIN, IT WAS HER GODDDAMN BIRTHDAY) was visibly upset.
My partner was trying to console her.
So I wanted to respect talk to the (2) waitresses. I started telling them nicely my point of view but One of them immediately walked away.
I asked her. Please kindly see it from my view. “I called ahead of time. If you told me that I needed to sit separate from my mom, then I would find a different restaurant where I CAN eat + CAN SIT with my family.“
And the waitress said “we don’t have time to watch every single table.”

My mom and dad were visibly upset at Hinata and how they decided to treat customers like this. Especially on her BIRTHDAY. Today was supposed to be a happy day for my mom and for us.
You just lost our business. We will be telling our family and friends about this and...
Read moreSushi was really good. Had alot of orders, two things that irked us (my uncle and I) was the Omakase was not filled like in the photos of their menu or videos from social media, 2 slices per fish, honestly a disappointment especially you can only order it only once per table. We alleviate that by just ordering separate sashimis. But 3 orders per person. This then brought up another issue, they slowed down the serving after our 2nd order, and it kept getting slower. We ordered 4 rounds. I get it. They are losing money on us lol but still. I had AYCE sushi where they got the food out as quickly as possible (like Sake 2 Me). But this was at 5pm when they just started and we were the only ones there.
Went back again (my mother, her partner and myself), omakase was the same, 1 slice per person, this might be how they serve it to everyone which is understandable, unless you got a camer, looks like you are posting for social media so they go old out. However, we were missing the tuna. While the other 2 tables had tamago and a full omakase. The other table that got full omakase is oriental, I don't know if that has to do with anything. They also slowed the plates down after the 2nd order, in which the table got empty for 10 minutes, thus making us lose appetite. The food is good quality, though. They did however gave us a plate that we did not order (volcano roll, a deep fried sushi). Don't know if that was a tactic to make us more full or what.
The servers were good and kind. Unfortunately, I feel I was being profiled, which was a big disappointment.
TLDR, You might get profiled, which equate to how much food they serve (it happened 2 times) Stay for more than 2 orders. They will serve...
Read moreI've been going to this restaurant for years. Their food has always been nice but ever since covid, the upgrade to the restaurant is much better. The food is more fresh and overall delicious than before the change. There is more care put into the food than when it was a self-serving Buffet. Definitely order the omakase Box (one per table), by the way. Their sushi is delicious and they don't add so much rice like other places.
The waiters are generally nice but had a little bit of difficulties with one server who was extremely stubborn. Otherwise, the waiters want to help. The only issue though with the new ordering system is you have to get their attention quite a lot to get more food. Sometimes it takes them a while to even notice. They have a website where you can order in the restaurant, but none of our phones worked on it for some reason. So we needed the help of waiters and they were extremely busy or just not noticing us. Honestly though if you just walk up to the waiter and say we want to order more, the issue is solved. You have to be loud and obvious to order more rounds essentially.
The restaurant atmosphere is fine but it isn't fancy or astoundingly beautiful.
Dinner is definitely pricey per person and way more than it used to be. I'm going to try the lunch because it's much cheaper than dinner. The owners need to create a website so we have all the details of prices, times, and reservations. It would be much easier to access everything online these days.
This restaurant is slowly becoming one of my favorite go to's even to order for take out. It's also priced at a very affordable cost when ordering out compared to other...
