The World Famous Turf Club — Restaurant in Hayward

this incident happened the night of 8/28/2025: I made a review before and it was about Jayman. I deleted it because I didn’t want to cause any problems but at this point I have to make another review and I will be keeping it up here. He was absolutely rude again. I walked in the establishment to meet my friends after a long day. I sit next to my friends we begin to talk and my friends asked him if he can get a drink. then Jayman rudely tells my friend “is this your friend that had a hoodie on last time?” he then proceeds to say that he can’t serve him while i’m here and that he isn’t able to serve me either due to my last review about him over him RUDELY telling me he couldn’t serve me due to my little hoodie being on...I am a POC with a hoodie on. It’s late night, it’s cold outside, I had hair down with my hoodie on. so the first interaction when he approached me in a rude manner and an aggressive tone I definitely took offense to that, and left quietly the first time. That night my second time being there I didn’t have a hoodie on and he still had a super nasty attitude towards me once again and I still literally never said anything to him STILL. After he told me aggressively he couldn’t serve me because of my review I quietly left again. At this point Jayman is racist and he also has horrible customer service. I feel very unwelcomed when i came to this bar the first time and after this second experience. I definitely won’t be going back to this place after that night. He’s mad at me because of how he treated me last time and he said that I made his “boss” get on him and tried to get him “ fired”…how is this establishment hiring people like this? Jayman is NOT PROFESSIONAL WHATSOEVER! The fact that he is still being rude is insane and I still never said anything to him. I hope the owner talks to him again because he so nasty towards people. After this second experience with him I will make sure to tell people not to go this unwelcoming establishment especially with racist people like him still...

I have been coming here for over 20 years. The bartenders and staff are nice. Drinks are good. The outside area is cute and comfortable. The bands that I have seen play are pretty good. There is now a cover charge of $5 and you can't come and go after 12:30 pm even with your wrist banded. The reason I'm giving this review a 1 star is for the DJ. I was here recently on two separate Saturdays. I swear he played the same exact set. "The Tide Is High" song is odd to hear on a dance floor. He plays lots of songs that do not feature the original artists but cover artists. Towards the end of both nights he played 70's style music and the few people on the dance floor just kinda stopped dancing. He's terrible at mixing songs and ignored anyone who would ask nicely for a shout out for a special occasion. I'm hoping he'll make some changes or The Turf will welcome in some new DJ's who know...

Me and my wife have been frequenting this establishment for four years. The drinks are strong while being reasonably priced, the staff (Eric, Jaime, Tony, etc.) are amazing people, and their outdoor tiki bar & stage are the perfect escape for our weekends. They are right next door to the outstanding Sapporo Japanese restaurant - so you can make a whole night out of going there.
