MT Book Co is such a special treat in Helena! Stopping by this store and checking out the selection is always on my 'must list' when visiting Montana. I really appreciate the selection of books, especially the children's books! My nieces and I have bonded over reading, and it's always a treat to bring them in a grab some books.
What's even better is if you are looking for a specific title, they will order it for you and give you a call when it arrives! I also appreciate that this store gives back to the community and really has strong ties with Downtown Helena and its readers. Something else that I enjoy is they are very active on social media, so it's easy to see what new releases are out each Tuesday and what is happening at the store.
The other best part is that not only are the owners/employees incredibly kind, but the folks who visit are often very kind as well! It's almost as if you won't find a mean person...
Read moreAn absolutely necessary resource, especially in Montana. I grew up in Montana when publicly safe spaces for LGBTQ people and allies were still very rare. If I had a place like MBC in my life as a teen and young adult, my path to adulthood would have been significantly better. Resources for educating the wider community on diversity and inclusion are still extremely essential in Montana (IYKYK). Wonderful owners and staff and great support groups here too. To those of you who want to educate yourself but don't know where to begin, this is a great place to start. Just ask. For those of you who don't understand why places like this are essential in Montana, imagine being born straight in a community of mostly gay people, then growing up always being told you're going to hell for being born straight, you are assaulted for being born straight, or almost killed for being born straight. Sounds pretty messed up right? Food...
Read moreCould be a cool store if they didn’t alienate half of their potential customers before you even walk in the door.
Response to your comment- You can get off your soap box because it was none of those things. But your response does say a lot about how you assume everyone who disagrees with you MUST disagree with the things you mentioned. It was your sign out front saying republicans do not care about people’s health. Do you realize around half of your county and a lot of people who come in town might be conservative? Also-and get this... They just might care about other people’s health?! None of this has anything to do with inclusion or rights and everything to do with your smug sign lumping all conservatives into one box. Get off your high horse and practice what you seem to love to preach when it comes to inclusion and equality for everyone. Even for people who might disagree with some of your...
