CONS: Gyros should have (more) lamb. Portions are small. PROS: Flavours are very good. Tzaziki is made in house. Customer Service is good.
I ordered the Zeus, a double-meat item - and found it to be lacking in volume, however, this is much like the only Greek Gyros place in Missoula. As in, anywhere else in gyros/schwarma territory, a regular has as much as their double.
There clearly needs to be more competition. This is a staple food, not a luxury, in other parts of the world (turkey, near-east, and now europe for over a decade). It is so common, it has replaced, as it should, many local fast food options, including the corporate McDonalds, and Burger King. Although those kind of places exist merely on recognition value and proximity to tourism spots, anyone with a little investigation and eyes, will see these very non-U.S. spots and the smells, wonderful.
So, it was very difficult for me to rate this. Three stars internationally, four locally, almost five. It was hard for me to give an honest review because customer service from one of the family owners was so good. Apparently, no one makes their own gyros here. It all comes from chicago ($$$). If there was a little more demand, and a local Montana production, it could take off. That would also increase the volume of...
Read moreWe visited Planet Gyros for the second time today. The last time was before we started writing reviews, but we both loved it then and this time we walked in with great expectations.
As you step through the doors you’re embraced by the warmth of the environment. The long orange wall somewhat reminded me of a Mexican restaurant, and it definitely brightened up the dining area. The decor is bright with plenty of local posters of happenings going on in the area. The room is equipped with plenty of tables and chairs, although the tables are on the smallish, with chairs for two or three people. The acoustics are a little loud, but thankfully it’s not blaring music.
You place your order at the counter, self-serve your drink from the great selection, then wait at your table for them to bring out your food. The drink selection includes Big Sky Sodas along with Pepsi products.
The menu consists of many different takes on the standard gyro. Otto ordered the Philly cheesesteak which he described as “Phenomenal.” I had the Ultimate Greek Gyro which was loaded with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, olives, cucumbers, and a ton of perfectly seasoned meat. I was pleasantly stuffed as we headed back to the car.
Good value, excellent food, Planet Gyros is a great place to grab a quick...
Read moreWe made a large order for about 20 people. Dennis, the owner was great to work with. This was by far the easiest group order I have ever done. I work at a local Helena business and we often order food for birthdays and our monthly Lunch and Learn. We will 100% be ordering from Planet Gyros again. I was able to call a week in advance to provide notice and obtain instruction on how to most efficiently submit our order. I was able to email our group order directly to Planet Gyros gmail. Dennis showed a smile and a sense of humor when one of our employees ordered off the wrong menu. Dennis and his team prepared our order on time and aside from a missing bag of chips, there were no issues with our order. He even provided a detail itemized receipt necessary for our company credit card records. His employees were kind and provided me with milk creates to carry all of the food, they hauled these to my car for me. The next day Dennis sent me a follow up email thanking us for the business. Planet Gyros is an outstanding local business who provides refreshingly great service in Helena. We will be ordering...
