Sunflower Bakery — Restaurant in Helena

The scones here are the best in town, and the quiche is better than most of the bakeries in Helena. However, the atmosphere and attitude towards customers is dismal. On a recent morning they had theor door unlocked but the open sign was not yet turned on. My phone said 7:30 (opening time), however the woman who started opening the blinds berated the man who walked in for walking in before opening time, and made a deal about it. My phone honestly did say 730 and I mentioned that, only to have you argue that your clock said 729. Was a POSSIBELE 30 seconds really worth it? I had noticed before that the attitude towards customers was very cool, definitely not warm and inviting - however the food was good enough I didn't care much. Now I will definitely come in less often, if at all. There are just too many other bakeries in town to choose from, and they are all friendlier. I am also a small business owner, and my customers are my lifeline. I would never berate 3 customers who came in at 7:29/7:30 when I open at 7:30. Maybe act happy they were wanting to buy from you?? Why so grumpy...

I recently discovered Sunflower Bakery, and I’ve been hooked ever since! Their sprouted Kamut bread is amazing – it’s wonderfully fresh with a perfect balance of flavor and texture. I look forward to it every week!

This is my favorite spot in Helena hands down. I get sourdough bread weekly and it’s perfection. The quiche is the best I’ve had, and the early grey scone is what dreams are made of. My husband loves the blondies. Basically anything you try is going to be magic. The staff is wonderful. The only complaints I have are that they aren’t open more days, and they don’t offer bread slicing.
