This is not your typical Chinese restaurant food. It is good and wellcrafted. Perhaps a little quirky but worth a try.
There is lots of parking in the back and a ramp that brings you to the front of the building where the entry doors are. So looking for a parking place on the street is not a problem.
We ordered four items since it was the first time trying the place. The price per person would have been less and we only ordered two. My usual test of a Chinese restaurant is to order MaPo tofu. Every restaurant makes it different, but it takes a skilled chef to make it flavorful. This restaurant did an excellent job. It was, perhaps, a little more oily than I like it. But it had great flavor and you could feel the Szechuan peppers.
Unfortunately, I had not ordered from the restaurant and did not know that they would put sesame seeds on the teriyaki chicken and chicken fried noodles. Since one of us doesn’t eat sesame seeds it became a problem. In the future, I would know not to order without deleting the Sesame seeds.
The stirfried eggplant rice bowl was delicious.
Aside from the Sesame seeds, the chicken fried noodles were good. If you order them, they are Mei fun noodles, which are thinner than the typical lo mein noodles.
The chicken teriyaki rice bowl was average. I didn’t think the chicken was that flavorful. I would not order it again.
The menu is smaller than many Chinese restaurants, but each dish how do unique taste. It is better than a menu with 200 items many of which pretty much taste the same, which is not an uncommon theme in some takeout Chinese restaurants.
There is also a dining area in the restaurant, although it is small and I think they probably do more takeout. I would recommend this place although it may take you several trips to figure out which dishes best suit your taste.
There is an online ordering app, but I did not use it because it does not allow you to customize the dish (in case you want to leave off...
Read moreFound this place from a google search. The photos looked great. I’m giving 2 stars purely based on the service I received.
When I walked in the woman at the counter asked if she could help me. I said I wanted to place an order. She went to the back for two minutes, came back out, and was on her phone. I’m asking her questions about a dish and each time, there would be like a minute pause while she did whatever she was doin on her phone, and then she’d answer in such a way that left me feeling like I was a burden for wanting to know about the menu. After this happening like, 5 different times, I finally just made a choice, not really knowing what I was going to get. this woman still continued to be on her phone.
The food was good, and I was happy with the price as well. But I wont be back. What should have been a 2 minute exchange ended up being like a 10 minute exchange. Would also like to add that there wasn’t a single customer in the place and she still couldn’t give me the...
Read moreGreat option for vegan Chinese food! The chef said they don't use fish sauce in the vegetarian dishes. I had the tofu and tomato dish. It was excellent. My wife ordered the string beans and garlic, but didn't want it spicy. So, the chef adjusted the dish to accommodate my wife's request by taking out the chili paste and sauting the garlic.
The restaurant is run by a wife and husband team. They both are super nice and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
If you are in a time crunch, order ahead and do pickup. If you are doing dine-in, give yourself extra time since it seems to be only the husband and wife team running the restaurant.
We will back for more vegan Chinese food when we are in the...
