So today was a very weird and disappointing experience. First off, it’s my birthday and we made a reservation for two at 4pm. We were seated fairly quickly which was nice. But that’s about where the “nice” part ended. After we were seated, it took at least 10 min before we were at least served with water and was told that our server will be with us soon. Not a problem. Then a family of 4 were seated. Take note that there were only about 4 tables being served in the main dining area. It’s Thursday night so it’s not so busy. Another 10 min passed and our server has not come by while the family of four that came after us already had their order taken, bread served and all. Then our server finally came. I ordered a martini and then for some reason he sneezed but turned away and said sorry. As my husband was telling him his order, the server said excuse me I need to sneeze and left. Ok thats fine, maybe he’s having bad allergy. But then another 10 min went by and the guy never came back. So I flagged one of the servers and asked if we can at least have some bread, to which he said “you will get your bread when your server take your order, but we’ll give you some bread”. That’s when I started getting really irate. How can we put our order when we don’t have a server? Meanwhile, there are other servers that are walking by and I also told the lead server that we have not been served because our server said he needed to sneeze but never came back. We were told they will let him know. I don’t know if the dude decided to take a break or what but when he decided to come back, he proceeded to the kitchen, then to the bar, then back to the kitchen. That’s when I said enough is enough. Clearly they don’t want our business. And I don’t need to do business with them either. So we left. It’s sad because I actually like this place and I like supporting family owned businesses. We’re locals and I’ve dined here quite a few times. But today is the last day. What happened today was comical and frustrating. How does a server come by and take one order and tells you he needed to sneeze and never came back??? That...
Read moreThis place has been here forever but I always drove past thinking it would be too much like a bar and less like a quality restaurant. I was wrong. The bar is in a closed off section and isn’t even noticeable in the dining area.
The dining room is large and designed well, has a classy ambiance. Big comfy chairs and lots of space so you don’t feel crowded.
Our waiter was delightful. Very helpful and friendly. He let us know they also serve breakfast so we’ll have to come back to try it. He said the dining room closes at 10pm most days but usually till 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
Food was great. Came with good Italian bread which helps because the food takes a bit longer to come out than some places but it’s worth the extra time.
Not a huge menu like Cheesecake Factory but it has all the Italian classics you would want. Appetizers sounded good and the waiter said they’re very large. Will try some next time. For two people one appetizer and one entree should be enough.
We had the pappardelle bolognese and the meat ravioli. Both were very good. The balance of textures between the pappardelle noodles and the sauce was perfect. Neither overpowered the other. Sauce was flavorful and the size of the egg noodles was perfect. I guess I would prefer a little less bacon but I’m glad the flavor was there.
The meat ravioli was also great. Big raviolis but cooked perfectly. Tender and held up well to the red sauce. They have Parmesan at the table but they might want to offer freshly shredded parm in the future. But no other suggestions for this dish. The cheese ravioli with a meat sauce might be a bit lighter than the meat ravioli so we’ll try that next time.
But yeah, if you want quality classic and comforting Italian food this is definitely worth...
Read moreI am reviewing strictly based off their happy hour menu. I'm a huge fan..
Giuseppe's ambiance & service: This is a very attractive restaurant with dim lighting, dark wood and a cool indoor contemporary waterfall in the dining area. There's plenty of seats and booths to accommodate large parties and plenty of diners along with a full bar. Our server was quick to take our order for our party of six and kept the drinks fresh. The kitchen brought 10 happy hour dishes to the table rather quickly, great work.
Giuseppe's Happy Hour Menu: Dish prices were $5 to $7 and the value was amazing. The eggplant parmigiana and the pizza fritta were the only two dishes I'd call 'happy hour size' The calamari and margherita were full sized portions that had to be taken home. My all star out of this group was the stuffed hot peppers. The opened peppers were huge and generously stuffed with tasty sausage and mozzarella cheese. The size of the peppers were so big, I thought we were being served bone marrow by mistake lol All dishes were prepped well and flavorful, they did not skimp on the meats and cheeses.
We absolutely over-ordered because we didn't know what to expect in terms of size and quality. This is one of the best happy hour menus in the Anthem area. Coupled with fast service makes for future stops at Giuseppe's, but that's another...
