Read moreIn short, Mothership is one of the best coffee shops in Las Vegas. They have a well made menu, with plenty of options for die hard coffee drinkers looking for a nice pour over, the more casual fan looking for a sweet latte.
The Good: -The interior is beautiful. There’s so many gorgeous details to appreciate here, from floral tiles to hand painted murals. It all comes together to create a warm, elegance that makes you want to stay for hours. -Their pour overs are very good (though places like Dark Moon and Vesta still have them beat in my opinion) and offer a wide range of single origin roasts. Not the best in town but definitely in the top 5. -They have a very strong brand identity, so if buying tees or mugs is your thing, you won’t be disappointed by the offerings they have.
The Bad: -I struggle to say “bad” but the lattes are hit and miss for me. I find most of them to be far too sweet for me. It’s just a personal taste thing but they’re not for me. If you don’t like super sweet drinks, their iced oat milk latte has good flavor but isn’t over powering.
The Ugly: -Mothership is expensive. If you can’t do regular milk and are going to be getting oat or almond milk, you’re looking at a latte costing more than $8 with tax. That’s a lot of money for any latte, let alone their smallest size. Now this isn’t more than places like Starbucks, but I only mention it because I don’t find their lattes to be all that good in the first place.
Over all, I really enjoy Mothership. It’s a great local brand that’s only grown in popularity over the years. It’s truly a local staple of the Vegas coffee scene at this point. If you’re looking for a good coffee and a chill place to work or catch up with friends, this place is a...
Read moreWith a name like mothership coffee, in a big science fiction style font on the front of their establishment, I fully expected this place to have a strong space sci-fi style. This is absolutely not what the case. The style inside I can only describe as chic country and a little twee. I was definitely a little disappointed by this as I felt misled by the signage. However, the place was really quite busy at 10:00 a.m. on a Friday and I needed a coffee for the road. They didn't have frappes on their menu, which you can't see until you reach the register. Given we have excessive heat warnings in the area right now I was hoping for a blended drink. Iced was an option, but I prefer blended. I didn't have a lot of time to look over the menu as I didn't want to hold up the line, so I just asked for my general go to, being a large hot dark chocolate mocha. I don't know if they only have one size, or if they didn't hear me ask for a large, but the cup ended up being smaller than I expected. I would also only describe the drink as warm, not hot, but that said the drink was really quite tasty and not overly bitter. The barista did a good job, and it was an normal wait time from ordering to receiving the drink. I did not order any food, but the food I saw being sent to other customers appeared to be very fresh and tasty. So while I would not necessarily go out of my way to come to this establishment, I would absolutely be willing to do a return visit when I'm...
