Really disappointed to have to leave this review... I lived in Irvine before moving to Las Vegas and have always been a huge fan of shop. Was really excited when they opened and right across the street from where I work no less. I've been coming in 1-2 times a week consistently since they've opened and I always ordered the grilled pork Bahn Mi with add extra crispy pork belly for the $2 fee... it's one of my favorite things to get when I decide to not eat at the restaurant that I manage myself.
Well unfortunately I was just informed today that I can't order what I've ordered multiple times in the past. The cashier/phone person named Timothy was very rude. Told me that it's at the discretion of the cashier whether they allow you to add a different meat or not which is absolutely ridiculous... there should be a single policy and it should not be up to the current on duty cashier to decide whether or not I can order the sandwich that I've ordered over 20 times before.
Very disappointed in the customer service, very disappointed in the lack of any actual signage or verbiage that states it is or isn't allowed. It shouldn't be at the discretion of a singular person whether I can order the sandwich I've ordered many times before.
So I will not be coming here anymore and I will no longer be recommending it so my guests and friends to try.
Update… wow absolutely pathetic so the business owner or person who at least runs their account just replied to my 1 star review thanking them for a 5 star review… this really goes to show that they don’t care about their local guests and are just and pasting BS. You didn’t even...
Read moreWorth the wait!!!! My honest review: I placed an online order thru door dash on my way home from work. I came in at the expected pick up time, and was told it would be a longer wait because they were still baking part of my order. So instead of half an hour, it was a few minutes short of an hour wait. The young lady at the counter is clearly doing her best, she was very polite. I got my food, and I noticed I was short one order of egg rolls when I got to my car. I thought ok, you know what it's fine. It's for me, I didn't need that much food anyway, it's 4 bucks, whatever lol. I tried one on my drive home and let me tell you, all the problems I've ever had in life just melted away. The egg rolls and pork pastry pie did not make it home lol, I made a mess eating it all in my car and I regret nothing. Then I tried my sandwich and spring rolls. I think they could have shot me at that restaurant I would've still given 5 stars. Is there a way to direct deposit my paycheck directly to this restaurant? If I had good money, I'd invest in this place. Legit, I'm telling all my coworkers, friends, and family about this place. I looked on door dash when I got home and saw they had closed online orders, so that tells me they're paying attention to wait times, and will probably get the hang of it soon. I know they just recently opened, so I was kinda expecting the wait. Best meal I've had for a long time. Thank you 🥺💖🙏 I...
Read moreI’m telling you... it wasn’t just a sandwich. It was thee sandwich.
I’ve spent my whole life searching. Wandering the streets, city after city, chasing whispers and Yelp reviews, hoping...praying...that one day, I’d find it again.
And then... I walked into Carrot & Daikon.
At first, it seemed like any other bánh mì shop. Minimalist decor. The soft hum of Vietnamese pop. A friendly cashier with a knowing smile...the kind of smile that says, “You’re not ready for what’s about to happen.”
And then... they handed it to me.
The bread...oh God, the bread...cracked like thin ice giving way to soft, warm clouds. The pickled daikon and carrots didn’t just crunch; they sang. The cilantro? A damn symphony. And that steak...juicy, seasoned, caramelized perfection. Like if love and umami had a baby and raised it in a smoky alley in Hanoi.
I took a bite, and time... stopped.
For a moment, I wasn’t in the shop. I was standing on a mountaintop, wind in my hair, a single tear rolling down my cheek as angels whispered, “This is the one.”
This isn’t a review. This is a testimony.
Go. Eat. And believe again.
My only request to the owner, please for the love of God get a good house made chili sauce to serve. Your food deserves better than off...
