Let’s talk about Southern soul food done with excellence. I dropped in for lunch at Slim Chickens, and what I got was more than a meal — it was a full-on flavor experience.

I ordered the Chicken & Waffles, and man… this plate deserves a round of applause. Three golden-fried tenders laid over a warm, fluffy waffle, with butter melting right into every groove. The sweet and savory combo hit like a gospel choir in perfect harmony.

Washed it all down with a legit Sweet Tea — cold, bold, and just the right amount of sweet. That classic foam cup and red straw combo just made it better. Sometimes it’s the little things.

As the new chicken wrangler on the block, I am very pleased with Slim Chickens. After constantly driving by, I saw an IG post from one of my fave locals who visited with her son. Everything looked amazing so I had to try it. The portions were good for the price but the flavor and customer service will keep me coming back. The fries, chicken sandwich and tenders were nicely seasoned and crunchy. The plethora of sauces was nice so we tried the honey mustard, red chili and BBQ. The hm remi ded me of Bennigans (iykyk), the BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy and the chili sauce was sweet then hits you with heat. We also tried the mac -n- cheese which was tasty but not super special. Beyond the chicken, a sleeper hit was the Texas toast! Buttery, crunchy, and a bit garlic-y is the name of the game here so if I get an order of just the bread to-go...mind ya bizness. While there, Larry and his team were a delight offering great conversation and help as a new customer. To be honest, we'll probably return tomorrow. I absolutely need to try the brownie dessert. They're definitely not a knock- off of those other chicken guys- Slim Chickens is in their own lane. Give them a try...

I had really high hopes for this place but was extremely disappointed. We walked in and were greeting by 2 men who opened the door for us. The lady who took our order was nice but the food and atmosphere wow. Fries unseasoned, chicken wings cold, chicken tenders super small just basic. All of the sauces were whatever & if it wasn’t for me having the sweet chili sauce it would have been in the trash. The sweet tea was not sweet the whole meal was just 2/10. Now the atmosphere, there were entirely tooo many staff there doing absolutely NOTHING. Ordering we saw individuals in the back just hanging out there isn’t a door or curtain to block them so they were in plain sight. About 5 ppl walking the floor checking on ppl to me it’s unnecessary. So many people working the back kept coming out to get soda from the machine, who I’m assuming was a manager with a blue shirt came out to help the young lady that took our order came out chewing food. Staff sitting at tables not eating taking up space from customers. Staff looking like they are off work but having conversations at the register.
