We went in for dinner because it was one of the only local spots open late on Sunday night (it was 9pm when we got there--they close at 10pm). The food was delicious, and the ambience was clean with beautiful, bright and cheerful decor--very pleasant indeed. Shoutout to our server Yuli who took excellent care of us! About the food -- the complimentary tortilla chips came with a fab bean dip (I think it also had some queso in it). We also ordered pico de gallo on the side which was tasty. My friend ordered chicken fajitas and was very satisfied with his food. I ordered the Shrimp A La Diabla -- it was EXCELLENT. The menu does warn you the sauce the shrimp comes in is super spicy and I have to say they aren't kidding. Do NOT order if you can't tolerate very spicy food. However, I love spicy food, the hotter the better, so it was perfect for me! I would 100% go back for this dish alone :) We finished our meal with the churros, which were superlative! Crunchy and coated with cinnamon sugar on the outside, soft on the inside, warm and delish, served with a generous helping of chocolate sauce, whipped cream and a cherry. The churros were as good as any I've tried before, and I've enjoyed churros all over Mexico. This is a must-try dish! One last note: Tenango means a kind of specific regional embroidery, modified from the vibrant embroidery arts practiced by indigenous Otomi people of the Hidalgo region of Mexico. The restaurant is named after this folk art/craft and the decor also reflects it with the bright colourful motifs and actual embroidery panels around the walls. (I added a few photos as examples) I appreciated getting to learn something new about the gorgeous folk arts in a particular corner of Mexico! 🇲🇽

This is hands down the best Mexican food around. The menu has something for everyone. We have tried so many things in the menu and everything has been delicious! Tenangos Nachos, Shrimp Cucaracha, Ximena, El Texanto, Carnitas, Street Tacos, Poblano Shrimp Tacos, Chicken Salad, Burritos Maria, Steak Tenangos. Everything is always flavored perfectly and cooked precisely! Presentation and flavor is always spot on! Portions are huge and some meals we share. There is a salsa bar with a variety of salsas to choose from. Made from scratch and delicious! Great selection of drinks to choose from. The Cadillac Margarita and the Michelada are fantastic! The restaurant is always clean. The staff and service here are exceptional! Everyone here takes pride in their job and it shows! Ronald, Roman, Sergio,Julie, Faith, Brian, Stella, exceptional! Always top notch service, and friendly! This is hands down our favorite place to eat. Not only is the food the best but so is the atmosphere and the staff! Can’t say enough positive things about our this place!

What a unique experience!!! Today was the opening of TENANGO’S Mexican Restaurant in Flat Rock (near Upward and I26). I’ve been waiting for the restaurant to open as they had something on their menu that I’ve rarely seen outside of San Antonio, TX—puffy tacos! The tacos (in the photo with the guacamole) were excellent—something to try if you’ve never had one. My husband had their Enchiladas Ranchero and a friend of ours had the Poblano Shrimp Tacos. The food was very good; the margaritas excellent (and priced well); the service quick; and the staff (including the manager and owner who each approached us to ask about our dinners) were friendly. Finally, and I’m sure they only had them for their grand opening, we were fortunate to be serenaded by an outstanding mariachi band. If you consider stopping here on your next excursion for Mexican food, you won’t be disappointed . . . 🌮

Brand new restaurant in town. The Grand opening is tomorrow.

"I recently had the pleasure of dining at the new Mexican restaurant and full bar that serves authentic food from Hidalgo, Mexico. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by vibrant and colorful decor that instantly transported me to a festive Mexican fiesta.

The menu featured a range of authentic dishes from Hidalgo, each bursting with flavor and made with care. I tried the enchiladas and they were simply outstanding - perfectly seasoned and filled with delicious ingredients that made my taste buds dance with joy.

Not only was the food a standout, but the attention to detail in the decor added to the overall ambience of the restaurant. The colorful and tasteful decor created a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel like I had stepped into a little corner of Mexico.

The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. The full bar was also a plus, offering a variety of cocktails and traditional Mexican drinks to complement the flavorful dishes.

Overall, my experience at this new Mexican restaurant and full bar was fantastic. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in a lively and welcoming setting. I will definitely be returning to try more of their colorful and...

We were immediately sat and served our drinks when first arriving. After that our waitress didn't come and take our order for over 40 minutes. We watched as she sat and took people who arrived after us, took their orders, served them, and had them out the door. There were multiple times she looked at our table and saw us waiting and refused to come over. Instead choosing to stand behind the register and chat with other servers. We were extremely hungry and our chips were empty for the majority of our wait until a waitress from another section kindly asked us if we wanted more. We were at the point where we were gonna ask for the bill for our sweet teas and leave when our waitress finally came over and said "so did you get anyone to take your order or?" Which we obviously had not as our menus were still in front of us and she was our waitress. After that our food was out in 10 minutes and was good. However, the wait was simply unacceptable. My boyfriend told the manager the situation when we were getting ready to leave and he rolled his eyes and walked away in the middle of the conversation. He refused to give any apology and only took off $3.50 (1 drink!!) from our bill after continued complaints. Absolutely awful service, awful management, and awful experience. Will never be...
