Wiseguy Pizza — Restaurant in Herndon

This place opened not too long ago directly across the street from my office and I had yet to try them until today, when my wife and son had a hankering for pizza. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised with our experience. I'm a native NYer and am picky about my pizza- so picky that I drive 35 miles each way to Middleburg for the only Brooklyn style pizza I like in VA (Teddy's). I was not too optimistic going in, I just don't care for chain store pizza but I sure was wrong! Wiseguy blows away chains like Domino's, Papa John's, etc. as this was a true, Brooklyn style pizza that was cooked perfectly- the crust was crispy, not floppy, and it had the perfect balance of sauce and cheese. Too many pizza joints in VA overdo it with the sauce and cheese and you end up with a soggy mess. Wiseguy's is a pizza that you can walk down the street while gobbling down a slice, just the way it should be. This location is right next to a Chipotle and a Starbuck's, so the competition is there, so let's be sure to show Wiseguy's the love they deserve. They have lunch specials (11am- 2pm) on pizza- $11.99 for a 18" (8 slices) pizza, how can you beat that? 4 people can have a great lunch for $3 each, you're not getting that anywhere else. Cannot find myself coming back after encountering such a rude experience my first visit. You can tell both the store manger and the shift manger had a nasty attitude. They both weren’t too fond of the many questions I had for the new restaurant i haven’t been too before. I had commentary about the high prices and they weren’t fond of that either. I wanted to purchase a combo meal, but the store was currently out of canned soda, other than Diet Coke. I complained and the store manager asked “what do you want?” I asked if I could have the bottle of sprite with my combo meal, he agreed. The Latina lady, who I assume is the shift manger. Took it upon herself to not comply with meeting the substitution. She did not want to give me chips with my combo, and said it was because I received a bottled soda instead of a canned soda, as why I was not receiving chips with the combo. As why that was not communicated at first at all before the transaction done I do not know, but it’s just highly unprofessional and A unsatisfying experience. And that lady is really stingy. My first experience ordering from Wiseguy Pizza was for my daughter's birthday, and the pizza was a resounding success. Our friends and family all commented that it was among the best they had ever tasted.

On that particular occasion, there was a minor issue as they had run out of vegan cheese and sausage for one of our pies. I contacted Wiseguy Pizza, and the manager, Anton, responded promptly and diligently worked to process a refund for the unavailable items. While their online ordering system did not allow for partial refunds, Anton graciously offered a complimentary pizza for my next visit.

When I called to place a pick-up order on April 22, 2025, Anton immediately recognized me. He efficiently handled our order and, true to his word, did not charge me.
