Two weeks ago I tried one of their cakes (guava filling) at a party and although that’s not my taste I did find them quite delicious so I decided to give them a try. Last Friday I went as a walk in to try one of their cakes since I was told from other references that they had cakes on hand day of without preorder. The gentleman was a nice guy asked me which size so I chose the medium one and then he asked me what flavor I wanted to which I asked what flavors do you have and then he said whatever flavor I wanted. I said great I’d love a chocolate one and he asked is it for a birthday and I said yes so he said balloons ok? I said perfect and that it was for a 16 year old boys. He gave me a paper and I wrote down the names. I additionally paid for other items to try ei vanilla slices of cake and two slices of tres leches. The party was next day I left and was happy of how seamless it all was. I later tried the tried the tres leches and was not typical form but very delicious. My mom enjoyed that and the slices of vanilla. Fast forward the party came and when I cut into the cake you can imagine the disappointment on my face and all the 16 year old boys who were expecting chocolate. I ended up tossing over half of the cake and I barely had any takers. I don’t like vanilla cakes and I tried it and it was just ok nothing to brag about. Maybe it was because it tasted of disappointment that I ordered chocolate and got vanilla. I got home and messaged them via their it account. And just now Wednesday so 5 days later that respond that it must of been a misunderstanding because chocolate is a flavor that needs prior notice and ordering. While I totally understand and would of been on with this on Friday while I had the chance to say well then I’ll just take the slices of vanilla for others and tres leche and while I could of gotten a chocolate cake at places I’ve done so in past. But I was never given that information when it mattered so as far as I see it the only misunderstanding is on the person working the front of the bakery as he seemed confused even when I asked for the two slices of tres leches (mind you there’s a sign saying tres leche by the slice) and he told me he didn’t sell it by the slice but was then corrected by someone on the back. Anyhow, I got an apology but also it must of been a misunderstanding!!! Clearly it was a misunderstanding but on the store fronts part but I the consumer got the short end of the stick. No mention of hey pass by on such and such date and I’ll give you a couple of chocolate slices so you can try it on the house or even a discount for a future chocolate cake order etc. Wasn’t expecting a refund or an entire cake for free but any good faith gesture to gain me as a future customer. Nothing. And for that they get 1 star. Service was lacking, customer service especially, vanilla I wouldn’t order again, vanilla and guava is as very good and I would’ve ordered but not after how this incedent was handled. And chocolate well sadly I have no idea or comment since I didn’t get...
Read moreI requested Madelyn to make a cake for my daughter who turned 2 on Sept 10th. Unfortunately, as we all know, there was a curfew in Miami due to Hurricane Irma, therefore, we could not celebrate the birthday. The day after, my husband contacts Madelyn and , explaining the situation, kindly asked for a refund. She not only YELLED at him but also refused to give us a refund. We have been ordering this lady our other daughters' bday cakes for 10 years and she completely denied any agreement or showed any interest in assisting us. After 20 mins on the phone, she finally agreed on refunding the FULL amount of $180. A week later, I went to her bakery to pick up the refund and I had to deal with her disgusting attitude again. She was only giving me part of it , which was not what we agreed on. She screamed that she refused to give me the total refund, she was going to keep it for the next order we made. After arguing with this lady and trying to explain my reasons, she turned around towards the register and LITERALLY threw my money on the counter.
I do not appreciate this kind of behavior towards someone who's been her client for many years. Although her products are good, I am definitely not ordering anything...
