I must start this review out with the same hesitancy I had when family members were telling me how delicious the "Walking Taco" at Cookout was and that I needed to try it. This is the same hesitancy I have when one of my children suggests a new series on Netflix. You get the picture. So with all reluctance and uncertainty, I venture to Cookout a couple of nights ago to order this peculiar "Walking Taco". After mumbling under my breath at the so-called capable drivers that have passengers and still insist on going to the right speaker. I pull my little SUV to the left speaker because you know, I can reach across my "empty" passenger seat to pay and retrieve my order. On my drive home I catch some whiffs of this "taco" menu item and my mouth seems to be uncontrollably watering. Alas, I get home and tear into the outer bag to find a Dorito bag folded over and taped. I open it to catch the same delicious aroma that is now in my car permanently. I look in and with some confusion and a little disappointment see there is not much to this $2.99 side item. There couldn't have been more than 4 tablespoons of meat, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, and crumbled Doritos. With more hesitancy and somewhat curiosity, I plunged my fork into the bag and took my first bite. This little bag of wonderment was so delicious I think I heard a mariachi band break out with a hallelujah song, with every bite! And after I finished in what probably took 1.5 minutes I was discontented that it was fully consumed and this little bag of goodness was empty. I had to wonder why there was not much to it for $2.99? Well, this question leads me to tonight. I had to go back again to see if by chance that maybe someone just was not on their A-game and didn't fill the bag to its fullest potential. Again, I went through the same mumblings under my breath at the less-than-smart people that have more than one person in the car that still insist on going to the right speaker. Sorry, I digress to go on a tangent again. I order the same "walking taco" menu item, drive home, and open the bag to find at least if not more than twice the amount of this delectable and flavorful bag of wonderfulness (pictures included are of tonight's order and really do not do it justice since it is all thrown in a bag). So after learning that the previous night was just one person's off night in filling an order, and the real bag of the "Walking Taco" is everything it is and should be, I have to give it at least 4.5 stars. The 1/2 star deduction is for messing up the order the first time and everything in life should always have room for...

After standing at the window for takeout for over 10 minutes watching the two customers in front of us leave with absolutely no acknowledgment from anybody whatsoever. one drive through had no cars in it the other drive thru had two cars in it with 1 at the window. We knocked on the window to get someone's attention & literally got yelled at by a cashier & some other employee to "knock on that window again". They sd cars were so backed up that they couldn't run the window too so we got n drive thru whee Cheyenne the cashier was beyond combative & rude as hell. She charged my aunt for a cup of ice after she asked them to pack her drink full of ice then have her the wrong drink with very little ice at all. My aunt tried to hand the wrong drink back to the cashier who sd they can't take drinks back thru the drive thru & with no where to throw it away I told my aunt to drop it under the window. Insert manager now who threatened to call the police if my aunt ever threw anything at his building again.... What? We dropped a drink we didn't order, they wouldn't take back & had nowhere to throw it away. I've never had bad service from any cook out anywhere... this service was not just horrible it...

Let me also echo the words of a reviewer above, in saying, I adore Cook-Out Food! I have never had a completely horrible experience, and even though the burgers at this location will not be on my plate from here on, I will be going to other locations in the future. Generally I give them a hard 3.5-4 ☆'s... but today?... oh Lord... I ⁷

Let me start out by saying that I love cookout! The food is great and it’s cheap! You can’t ask for much better than that. However, this particular cookout is awful. They couldn’t get your order right if their lives depended on it! I’m not sure how hard it is to make a sandwich plain, especially when it says it right there on the receipt. I can’t remember a time that they haven’t messed my order up. A few cashiers are nice but the rest are rude and act like you’re inconveniencing them by asking them to correct your order. Go to the conover location!

My wife picked me up an order of chicken and a double order of onion rings. The chicken was awesome as always but the double order of onion rings was severely disappointing. It was less than expected for a single order. I knew they would be less than optimal when they got home so I planned on putting them in the oven to ensure they were crisp but the attached pic shows their concept of a double order of onion rings.
