So this place has really great food, and awesome customer service! Shyanne is an amazing waitress and took great care of us too! However, if you go there on Fridays and Saturdays do not expect to hear your conversation with the rest of your party. Kris the DJ that comes out here blast his speakers as loud as he can and has no regard for the customers trying to eat here. He blames the $hit quality of his music on the acoustics of the building which in reality it is the fact he has the subs set too high. I think it’s time to find a new DJ, Iron Thunder 💕
Edited to add: After 30 minutes I got a notification on my watch that the environment was really loud. Then another after another 30 minutes.
Second Edit: Iron Thunder, you’re right. This post isn’t about the place being bad. But yes, I am disappointed in your DJ since he has no regard for the customers you’re serving. We spoke to him directly to ask if he could at the very least bring the volume down and instead he dismissed us and acted as if we didn’t know what we were talking about. My dad has run gigs since I was a little girl and made points on how he could adjust the system to make the listening experience pleasant for everyone(even with it rocking out and filling the place). At the time of writing this post initially it was so loud I couldn’t even think or comfortably order my food from the waitress, nor have a conversation with anyone without yelling “huh?” repeatedly. So I was incredibly frustrated since I was originally excited to bring my family out and have them try y’all out for the first time as I’ve eaten here before and have loved it every time before this particular experience.
It would just be appreciated if Kris actually cared to try and make the appropriate adjustments to allow an enjoyable and fun listening experience for everyone, or if you guys decided to just get a new DJ altogether.
I do apologize for the original rating as it was out of...
Read moreStayed at a nearby hotel in town looked at their local restaurant pamphlet and didn't see anything that stood out to me.
I ask what types of places around here are good, they pointed me to the local handbook they got. Then I asked them "...yeah but what do YOU like around here?"
They told me right down the road is restaurant/bar her husband likes to go to, called the Iron Thunder.
Checked it out here on Google looked like my kind of place.
The whole experience was great, luckily I came in on a Thursday and bud light cans were $2! That's a great deal! Already happy and I only got my drink. Ordered a Southwestern Burger medium rare, and that shit actually came out Med. Rare which a lot of places have a hard time with. It was juicy, with just the right amount of pink.
The ladies who waited on me were great and made sure I had everything I needed, and the food was to my satisfaction. They took care of me and the service was great.
If you are here for a night or a local who hasn't tried it yet I can't recommend the Iron Thunder enough your bellies and wallet will walk away satisfied.
The only small nitpick I could think of is that it's self seating (which is not a problem), but I didn't see any signs for it unless I missed them? I just ended up kinda hanging around the door for a bit as it was my first time here and didn't know.
Either way if I'm around town and have the time I will definitely be coming back, this is one of the few places that you can get great atmosphere, service, and food at...

Since moving to Hickory, North Carolina, we have been on the lookout for great local spots to dine, and we recently stumbled upon a gem. Our visit to [Restaurant Name] was nothing short of delightful.
From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Their warm hospitality set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance was inviting, making it the perfect place for a casual meal.
My husband ordered the wings and mac n' cheese, and he couldn't stop raving about it. The wings were perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the mac n' cheese was a standout, made with real, creamy cheese that was absolutely delicious.
I opted for the Thunder Burger with fries, and I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. The burger was juicy and packed with flavor, and the fries were crispy and golden. The serving size was so substantial that I couldn’t even finish it!
Not only was the food excellent, but the prices were also very reasonable. We felt we got great value for our money.
A special mention to our beautiful waitress, May who was both friendly and knowledgeable. She suggested the buffalo chicken sandwich, which I am definitely looking forward to trying on our next visit.
Overall, Iron Thunder Saloon and Grill exceeded our expectations. With welcoming staff, delicious food, and great prices, we’ll definitely be back. Hickory has a new favorite spot on...
