I am writing this review based on my first shopping experience at Hobby Lobby. This is my first impression of this store mainly, and as a franchise. I have to tell you if you have any type of hobby, sell crafts for profit, or need something to get your creative juices flowing just step into this store. I was in awe of the massive size and inventory that filled it. There is so many different reasons a person might find to shop here. You can utilize several different services offered such as picture matting/framing, floral design arranging, and you can opt in for a class they offer. This would be my "go to store" if I was in any type of interior decorating or design. They have a huge variety of accent type furniture pieces at great prices. As far as the selection of inventory for those avid crafters like myself, it's a dream and a nightmare. Let me explain and remind you again this was my first visit into any Hobby Lobby. The reference of a dream came from the eye candy that was before me. It seemed every glimpse of every sight made me feel the urgent need to grab the item, and get into my car before somebody else. There seems to be every possible instructional book, tool, accessory, material, etc. for every hobby, craft, or decorating idea that a person could dream up. The variety is amazing and way more impressive than the other two craft supply stores that come to mind. I myself am one who loves to clearance shop. It was like placing another piece of candy to my mouth, (I could have actually taught and created my own candy, using the inventory). There was a massive clearance section with an astounding 90% off. They have items for every budget, with the understanding of the expense of a artist trying to give a idea life. For instance you can purchase a pack of colored pencils and coloring book for a child for under $5. The other end of the spectrum is purchasing a set of colored pencils $80 and a $15 for a adult. This store would be the perfect starting point for inspiration for a bride to be. If talented, skilled and in the budget one could put together a whole wedding. I am almost positive of this, except shoes and all the food ingredients. Wether you are a jewelry maker, candy maker, interior designer, painter, sculptuer, wood worker, baker florist or seamtress to name a few, novice or expert I know you will be pleased with Hobby Lobby. The nightmare comes in the end of venture when you come to the realization of not being able to afford the six buggies of items you know you can't live without, or a car big enough to pile it in. The reason I gave this store 4 not 5 stars is because my experience ended with a sour taste in my mouth. In the beginning I was returning a gift. The staff was knowledgeable and very helpful. They gladly gave me a gift card and a quick run down of useful info about the store, sales, etc. The shift had switched by the time i was ready to check out and I was expecting that same friendly, and helpful staff, but I was sadly mistaken. I had a few items I wasn't sure about since I got them off the clearance shelf leaving items to replace to the shelf, and i exceeded the amount on the gift card. The cashier put a $40 ceramic cookie jar into a bag with no protection into a bag with some other glass or ceramic ornaments. I wasnt paying attention because I had upset her or so it seemed. There wasnt a line of people behind me, and she wasn't the only open lane. It upset me to fill like an inconvience. What was more upsetting was getting home and seeing my broken items due to careless way the aggitated cashier placed them. It was the last cookie jar so I just counted it as a loss. I also didn't enjoy the feeling I got when I had to use change for the remaining balance from the cashier and her coworker. Nothing is perfect, but besides checking out, Hobby Lobby...
Read moreI will start out by saying that I love Hobby Lobby and will always shop at Hobby Lobby but I must give a one star due to a recent experience. On Wednesday, May 15th I visited the store. I bought several 75% items, two plastic picture frames and a set of five 4x6 picture frames. Most of this for my office at work. On Friday, May 17th, I brought the bag up to my office and realized the picture frames were missing, thinking I probably just forgot to pick up the bag they were put in. I returned on Monday, May 20th with my receipt (that only has item numbers and prices) to ask if I left my picture frames there. The cashier had me go pick up the frames I thought I bought and bring them to the front. Once that happened I am assuming someone from risk managment came up to take my receipt and asked me to wait. After ten minutes this woman walks up to me in front of many people and loudly states "you never bought frames. You never had frames in your cart." I looked at her like she had 12 heads. She sarcastically asked me if I would like to go watch the video of me checking out, which I was happy to do since this lady just accused me of trying to steal in front of everyone. On the way to watch the video, she again stated that I never had frames in my cart. At this point I'm thinking that maybe I am losing my mind. I get to the room with the video of me checking out. The very first thing I pull out of my cart is the picture frames which I pointed out to her. She stuttered a little and then rudely let me know that I still did not pay for them because the cashier never rung them up and put them in a bag (they were sat to the side). Now that I can understand. Since my receipt didn't specify items, there was no way for me to know. It isn't that I would have minded that conversation but to accuse me of stealing in front of people was ridiculous. I stewed on it two days. Called the manager who told me they would take my complaint seriously. Never asked my name and gave no remediation. Very...
Read moreSharing from someone else’s post on fb..This is not me however I have also had bad experience in this hobby lobby store.. they definitely need a new change of management or else they are going to lose all of their customers!!!
Extremely disappointed with the management at Hobby Lobby in Hickory, NC. I will not shop at that store again and I will be contacting corporate first thing tomorrow. I took my dad and we browsed around, then dad found a book and went to the front and sat in a wheelchair while he waited for me to check out. Staff, management and many customers were all up front because the store was about to close. The whole time I was checking out (about 10 minutes), the store manager was talking with another staff member about my dad saying things like, “I don’t know why he talks like that, he must be drunk,” and “He better not be sitting there when we close, we’ll run him off” and all kinds of snickering remarks and whispers making fun of him. I guess they didn’t realize his daughter was standing right there. I’m pretty shocked and upset considering this is supposed to be a Christian store. Dad wasn’t bothering anyone. There was no reason for him to be openly judged so negatively, especially when people could hear. My dad is disabled from a severe stroke. His speech is impaired. I didn’t make a scene in front of my dad. I kept my composure and told dad it was time to go. He was looking through a coin collection book and I told him I’d buy it for him, so I did and he was so happy. But I’m sickened by such judgmental people. It’s a good thing my dad is hard of hearing so his feelings didn’t get hurt. How can you say these things in front of a bunch of customers? How can you disrespect the elderly like that? I’m asking you all to please share so that something is done about this so it doesn’t happen to others. And maybe think twice about shopping at this particular location especially if you have a disabled/elderly person with you. This...
