Got the lamb gyro and falafel over rice. Both were spot on! Make sure to specify sauce on the side unless you're already familiar with the flavors. First time trying this truck and we were VERY impressed by all the attention to details that are typically overlooked or often just accepted as the norm. The lamb, in my opinion, was awesome. Not the typical thinly sliced "lamb" that seems to be standard everywhere, this was bite sized chunks of lamb that were obviously grilled, from a steak of lamb, and then cut into pieces. I believe it was cooked to a med-med well, as I was able differentiate the layers of "done-ness", and it was tender and delicious with no rubbery chew at all! I think they even took a page from Cold-stone's book, because I swear each bite was full of everything. Halfway through I said "I think they took everything, hot and cold, and just mixed it all together before they dumped the mix into the pita. Also, I'm full". Which brings up the point, prepare for some leftovers, the portions are great. My wife's Falafel and Rice was also phenomenal! Falafel was great, crispy outside, tender inside, nice and fresh. You could distinctively taste cumin in my lamb and her rice, and yet it was pleasant, and not overbearing. The rice was cooked/kept perfectly, not at all dry, not at all mushy, nice and tender and just slightly firm (not crunchy) on the outside, the white sauce was very liberally put on top, and ended up growing on us both as we tasted more of everything, but I will probably ask for it on the side next time, as to taste the original flavors that were so delicious, before...
Read moreAnytime I am in High Point I drive by the gas station to see if this food truck is open……even if I have already eaten. I always need to take some home and a LARGE container of their rice pudding! Located on N. Main Street in the parking lot of a Mobil Gas Station, you can see this Orange truck from the street. Every dish on his menu is pictured on the truck and I can say I have tried half of them and never been disappointed. Whether it’s chicken, lamb, gyro, everything is seasoned and cooked perfectly. The last touch is their homemade sauces and you can ask for none, a little or extra. The flavors of the proteins mixed with their rice is just amazing. And DO NOT leave without getting some of their velvety, smooth rice pudding with a hint of cinnamon…….OMG…..I thought my Latino family made the best, well I was wrong! The owner is polite and service is quick. Some people will eat in their cars. He use to have two tables by the truck but I have not seen them lately. It is a gas station and you will see some weirdos around at times but there are always customers around as he is very busy with orders. If you’re around or after a baseball or soccer game, stop by. You won’t be disappointed as this is the most traditional Halal food I have...
Read moreI'm not going to lie, I've been in the mood for a gyro for about a week. Having driven by this food truck so many times, it seemed like a good time to give it a try. I got the lamb over rice and samosas. The samosa wrapper was a little over done, but the filling was very tasty. The lamb over rice scratched my gyro itch and then some. Very good and very plentiful. The curry flavored rice was very good as well and neither too dry nor mushy. A small side salad is included with some white sauce for a dressing. I had the gentleman add both white sauce and spicy sauce to the gyro meat and rice. Both were excellent and compliment each other well. Next time I'll have him put a bit more of the spicy sauce on. So glad I tried this truck. Very reasonable prices as well. FYI, my super picky daughter got a cheeseburger and fries and ate almost all of both - a rarity for her, so they must have been good too. Absolutely worth a try. I'll be headed back...
