This was the first time that I was at this eatery in a long time and they have redone the interior but the food was horrible. I asked for a hamburger as bloody rare as possible and a steak/cheese sub. This was a to go order and when I got home I immediately went to dig into the burger but I was greatly disappointed, even though I asked for as bloody rare as possible it was dry and like a hockey puck. Then I went to try the cheesesteak and it was literally half the size of a normal cheese steak sub with hardly any meat on it. They also give you chips instead of fries unless you want to pay an upcharge. The chips were no good either because they put them with the sandwich in the same container so it gets all soggy from the juices from the sandwich and the steam. The pasta salad was drenched and soggy and tasted terrible, it tasted like pure vinegar and the pasta must have been overcooked by at least 5 minutes. I don't understand how these restaurants survive and have customers that are loyal, I had high hopes because the old Mayberrys was very good and looking at the reviews here I felt safe but again I was wrong. I will definitely take my money elsewhere because I work too hard for my money. I could have went to a steakhouse and enjoyed a wonderful meal for less money. FYI I've been living here for almost 30 years and I typically don't leave reviews but I had to vent on this one. It's a shame the world we live in today that it's near impossible to get good food for a decent price anymore. I should have known when I seen how small the kitchen cooking area was with some microwaves and kids cooking my food. Hope you have a better experience but I...
Read moreVisited Maberry about a month ago with my wife for an evening meal. My wife ordered a pimento cheese with bean and bacon soup. She found a black hair in her plate and promptly alerted the manager who deducted my wife's meal from the check and apologized. Went back tonight with some friends and my wife was reluctant to go but we convinced her. Myfriends and I were picking at her about the previous hair as she again ordered the same sandwich with soup. Lo and behold she again finds a hair in her plate after consuming part of the meal. I again called the same manager over and this time she cancelled the complete check which we told her not to do. She talked to the staff and came back and told us we might want to find another place to eat from now on which I was shocked to hear as we have been patronizing this resturant for a long time. She stated some other comments about she was finished talking about the incident and was closing as we were telling her we were sorry for the issue. She made our party feel like we were trying to just get a free meal as we know some do but that was not the case in this situation. Mabey what needs to take place here is the employees should have to ware hair nets to cut down on these occurrences in the future. Needless to say my friend and I had to eat crow tonight along with our meal for picking at my wife about the origional hair incident and as for me well that dog house needs to be...
Read moreI ate here today for lunch and ordered a chicken salad melt. The chicken was grey and tasted funny. When I mentioned something to the waitress, she profusely apologized. One employee overheard me and told me that the chicken was likely old. My waitress took my plate back and my order was replaced with a grilled cheese per my request. I started to question the cleanliness of the food there in general and looked at the cooks in the kitchen area who were preparing our food as they're in plain sight from the tables. One cook was scrolling on his phone in between orders and not washing his hands between phone scrolling. This concept is disgusting to me considering many people take their phones into the bathroom with them. Phones are petri dishes for bacteria, and the fact that the person handling our food (WITHOUT gloves mind you), is simultaneously handling a bacteria infested device is repulsive. The other cook had a beard and wasn't wearing any sort of beard/hair cover. This restaurant does not deserve it's 96.0 sanitation rating. Overall very grossed out by the entire experience and will not be returning. The icing on the cake was having to pay for my meal. Apparently the manager refused to give me my meal for free when the server asked, even though I ate rotten chicken. If you decide to eat here, be sure to inspect...
