(3.5 stars) Though its name may call to mind artsy vegan food, Blue Zucchini’s closest analog is probably Greensboro’s Iron Hen (minus its much-maligned owner) in that it supplies comforting American eats in a quaint and quirky albeit somewhat crowded space. That isn’t to say that there aren’t vegetarian options here – there definitely are – but rather that one should recalibrate expectations accordingly. And what should one expect? Go during lunchtime on a weekday, and expect a brief wait for a table. Expect to gawk at the desserts positioned conveniently near the register. Expect to gawk at the brightly colored interior and either nod in approval or find it a bit much. Expect to be torn between at least two different sandwiches (and, possibly, at least two different sides) when perusing the menu. These expectations dispensed with, my wife and I opted for a fried green tomato starter, a West L.A. (turkey, bacon, avocado, cheese, chipotle mayo, lettuce, and tomato on sourdough) and a Low Rider (roast beef, cherry peppers, Havarti, and horseradish mayo on a baguette), with cups of black bean soup on the side. Fried green tomatoes are one of our litmus test dishes, and Blue Zucchini’s rendition (with pimento and balsamic) proved to be a mixed bag. The tomatoes were both thickly sliced and thickly battered and were nice and crisp. However, they were also quite dry. Thanks to odd plating, only the two slices in the middle had any pimento (sandwiched between them). Fortunately, the sandwiches were less confounding. Gooey melted cheese and a nice kick from the horseradish mayo made the Low Rider a winner. The black bean soup’s addition of salsa and sour cream kept it from being one-note. Prompt service and reasonable pricing ($9.75 and $8.95, sides included) made for more points in Blue Zucchini’s favor. It remains to be seen whether or not Blue Zucchini handles dinner entrees as well as it does sandwiches, but it has all the makings of a solid lunch spot – albeit not one worth more than a fifteen-minute wait.

Oh my where do I begin about that amazing lunch spot :)) Such a cute place with lovely decor and a welcoming friendly atmosphere. we were greeted when we walked in the door. We sat down and immediately were ask what we would like to drink . The sweet tea here is really good and we started with a fried zucchini appetizer with a homemade buttermilk ranch:) it was absolutely delicious:) we wanted to try so many things off the menu but for our entrées went with the Asian chicken salad and the Deep Blue Sandwich which is a deep-fried cracker cod filet and with fries for the side ….. the salad was delightful from the first bite to the last and the Deep Blue will keep us coming back for more that’s for sure :) and those fries just perfect :) they sure know what they are doing at this establishment:)) This is the best of the best in Highpoint :)))

Blue Zucchini is a nice little restaurant off the highway that boasts some amazing food. I got the Club Sandwich, which was superb, just as a club sandwich should be. I also got a Chocolate Chess Pie, which was quite quality as well. The inside of the restaurant has some interesting decor. Every employee we interacted with was very pleasant to talk to and even helped me identify a song playing in the restaurant that I did not recognize. Our group of three received our takeout order in a very timely manner. The food was a bit on the expensive side, with the cost being about $16 per person, though the proportions that we received were large enough to validate the cost. Overall, this place was an incredible find, which I will hopefully return to if again in High Point. (Date of Visit: 6/28)

**The only reason I gave them two stars on the food was because my (reorder of a burger) was good and the mac and cheese was good. If you factor in the bad attitude though it would have been negative stars!!

I like to pride myself in being very fare. I have written reviews for both very good and very bad experiences in establishments. Honestly this one makes me rather sad to write because I have eaten at this restaurant for over 10 years. Fun Fact: I ate lunch at Blue Zucchini the day I got married and up until the past year have sincerely enjoyed every experience I have had there. This is my second time in the last six months where the owner has been rude and defensive about an order at my table and today was the straw that broke the camels back. I ordered the Brielicious Sandwich which hands down is my all time favorite sandwich and my sister and I were sharing a mac & cheese because it is phenomenal. My sister, mom and daughter's food arrived, mine was the last to land. The croissant bun was an overheated (microwaved) croissant and not the correct bun and it only had maybe a half portion of turkey on each side, no apple, no pepper jelly and if there was cheese it was the smallest amount known to man. Ya'll this is a 13.00 sandwich! When I asked my waitress about the cheese and apple she promised me there was cheese mixed in with the meat (nope!) and she would fix the apple. I agreed and she took my plate to "fix it". While she was gone the owner came over to our table and was very defensive. I have waited tables and I am very kind about mistakes and things being fixed so her rude attitude was greatly unappreciated. She asked me what was wrong... I asked her about the croissant because it use to be on a croissant bun, she rudely explained they couldn't get them this week. okay. and then I shared it didn't have an apple, or pepper jelly and overall just wasn't right. She asked and I kindly explained. I wasn't nasty, I didn't curse or have an attitude. She was very much in her feelings that as a customer I was unhappy with the food that was delivered to me. My guess is they used the same amount of turkey on the larger croissant that they use on the smaller bun which was pathetic. When my sandwich landed again it still was the saddest thing I have ever seen with the sad addition of one thin apple slice that again seemed microwaved. The waitress agreed to take it back and just let me order something else. I had a burger the night before but at that point it seemed like the safest option. When it arrived it was delicious however it was delivered by the person I would assume was the "chef" who proceeded to toss my plate in front of me with an attitude and then re-coiled back to get his dig in that he, "doesn't use a microwave." very rudely. Wow! Just wow, I have never in my life been treated so rudely for a 13 dollar sandwich that clearly was one of the most pathetic things to ever come out of a kitchen. Do better Blue Zucchini! I have recommended you to friends and family 100's of times over the last 10-11 years and it breaks my heart to be treated so poorly and have below average food. You clearly need an attitude adjustment and not be so defensive when a customer isn't happy with their food. I will never recommend you to anyone again and will share this story with everyone I know. Clearly this business is struggling and instead of upping your customer service you get defensive when a customer isn't happy with the quality of product you serve. I wish I had taken a picture of what I was served but honestly I was in such a shock that they would even serve such a mess to a customer I didn't. I sure hope if you choose this place you are treated better than I was. As for me, Im not sure I will ever go back as long as the same...

I truly loved this place until today.   I ordered my favorite the Fried Catfish.  As I was eating it I discovered that it did not taste right.   It was all I could do to get it down.  I took my fork and look at one end and it was raw!   I immediately went to the bathroom.......   After I came out the waitress asked me if I wanted another entree or would I like for her to take it back to the cook and let him cook it some more?  I said no.  She brought the bill out which she did remove the fish entree, but instead of charging me for the $1.50 x's  up chcharge for my two sides, she charged me full price for them both!  That is when I asked her how would they finish cooking  the same piece of fish I was just eating on?  She said and I quote  "They would take it and put it back in the fryer.".  I then asked her, "Is this the same fryer that everybody else's food is cooked in?" She replied "Yes."  I looked at her and said "What?".My daughter asked to speak with a manager!  She immediately went back to the kitchen where I could hear her in the cook discussing how I did not want another entree and I did not want them to take my fish that I had already ate off of and put back into the fryer and she took the entree off the bill, but charged me full menu price for the sides.   I could here everything!  They were making me sound like a total _itch!  So of course I got upset and went up to the kitchen and said the guy in the kitchen, "I can here them talking about me have them come to the front please!".  The waitress came and said " Well I took it off your bill and offered you something else. Plus you ate have of it!". That is when I said "I did not make a fuss over the fish or the fact that I was being charged full price of $4.00 for the side items that were$1.50 each!". That is when her manger/ Cook came around the corner and started yelling saying basically the same thing that the waitress had said.  I told him that that is not why I am upset!  "I am upset , because you guys are back here trash talking about me where Everyone in the restaurant can hear you, but most of all the fact that you would take the entree that I had been eating off of and put it back into the same fryers that you cook the fresh food in! That is Nasty and I am sure you are Not supposed to do that!"  That is when he started yelling to the staff, "Just give all of it to her for _ucking free and get her out of here!". I said, "I am going to pay for my meal but I am only paying $3.00 for my sides Not the full price $8.00 and never have to see me in here again!!  PS. Even though the waitress was rude at the end she was very attentive with bringing our things out and refills.  So even though my family said no I did leave her a tip $4.00 and I thank her for that too.   I just want people to do the right thing and to be treated right.   This was a VERY...

Excited to try this little cafe, based on their 4.7 star reviews and clean sanitation score. I was terribly disappointed. I ordered a Cuban sandwich. I’m very familiar with these, and the description fit the part. It stated there would be ham, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, spicey mustard, and pickles, on a baguette. I was served an ice cold honey ham sandwich on a soft hotdog bun hoagie. I opened my sandwich to check out what was inside, because all I tasted was soft white bread and honey ham. There were no pickles, one tiny shred of pork and melted cheese. When the waitress came to check in, I explained that I was expecting a warm sandwich and the cold, shaved honey ham lunch meat, was not what I anticipated on a soft hotdog bun. I explained it did not at all taste like a Cuban. She asked if there was another sandwhich I may want instead. I asked for the menu. A woman came out with very short grey hair and said, “Just to inform you there are no hot sandwiches, except blah, blah, blah.” I thanked her for the information and I was expecting her to apologize for being out of baguettes and not explaining that, or offer some explanation for the cold honey ham sandwich I was served. She then proceeded to say, “All we do is stick the sandwich in the oven to melt the cheese, not to warm it up. The Cuban is a pressed sandwich.” I said, “I know, my sandwich was not pressed, either, nor on a baguette.” She said, “Yes it was we smoosh it with a spatula after we make it, I don’t own a panini press, that is a baguette, it’s just cut.” I don’t understand the concept of offering a sandwich like a “Cuban” and changing it so much that it is not that. I do love to try different cafes and delis take on classic sandwiches, but after the encounter from that very rude woman, I’m more shocked and disappointed by her attitude and rudeness, than I am that they advertised and described one sandwich and sent out something different. Terrible customer service, very over priced for the quality, and a missed opportunity to have a great little cafe in a...
