As noted in previous reviews, declaring anything the best pizza is a dicey proposition given the variance in pie preferences. Blue Rock, however, is certainly High Point’s most interesting pizza purveyor. Like Sticks n Stones in Greensboro, Blue Rock offers a music-themed menu and a wealth of creative toppings and combinations. You can get a traditional red sauce and mozzarella pie here – or build your own – but the specialty Headliners are something to behold. From the Little Red Rooster (sausage, bacon, crawfish tails, fried egg, and pepper jack) to the Stairway to Freebird (chicken, prosciutto, figs, arugula, gorgonzola, and a cherry-balsamic reduction) and from Southern to Tex-Mex, there are plenty of creative options to be found here. But pizza is not the only draw: apps include a commendable variety of wings and an appealing selection of fried things while the sandwiches are almost as eclectic as the pizzas (though fewer in number). Our first (takeout) order consisted of fried pickles, The Last Waltz (alfredo sauce, chicken, prosciutto, sundried tomatoes, artichoke, mozzarella, and basil) and the Zydeco (red sauce, crawfish tails, andouille sausage, and peppers with pepper jack and mozzarella). The pickles were cut to chips, suitably crispy, and came with an addictive chipotle ranch dipping sauce. Both pizzas tasted as good as they sounded on paper. The Last Waltz was like getting a forkful of a favorite pasta dish in each bite while the zydeco offered heat with a touch of sweet. Only the bland, utilitarian crust failed to impress, another attribute that Blue Rock shares with Sticks n Stones. As expected, prices for the fancier pizzas run higher than your typical chain offerings. Ours were $15 apiece for two mediums (larges would have been $20 each): highway robbery for pedestrian pies, but a reasonable premium for the novelty of the toppings offered. High Point has no shortage of solid pizza options, and where Blue Rock ranks among them depends on largely what you value in a pie. However, for the adventurous pizza connoisseur, Blue Rock is, at the very least, a must-try.

I'm not sure how to rate three and a half stars on Google, so this place gets a four. The atmosphere is cool and a bit typical for a rock-n-roll themed eatery, but I applaud the ownership for their strong effort. The wait staff was attentive, particularly Emily O. who was excellent. Where this place started losing stars from my review was the pizza. It's their specialty to offer creative and unique pizza options, and I give them credit for a very solid menu. But the problem is two-fold, price and corn meal. A small pizza, probably a 14" in reality, will set you back$16 to $18. There are some that are even more pricey if you want to add a topping. And the cornmeal on the crust was pervasive, way too much for us. I don't know if I actually truly tasted their crust since there was so much cornmeal. It was everywhere. As a person who occasionally makes my own homemade pizza, I understand and value cornmeal as a buffer to prevent your raw dough crust from sticking to the peel. But it should be barely there, in my opinion. The mushroom and pep was nowhere near as good as the price tag indicated it would be, and the olive oil based chicken, arugula, and fig pizza had a strong twang of, you guessed it, cornmeal flavor, but I was told it tasted "ok". All in all, you can dismiss my review as yet another transplanted guy from New England who mocks southern pizza, but I probably won't be back. Sorry Emily, you were great, but I don't care for corn pizza.

In the mood for some great draft beer and lunch before the usual brewery opening times of 1 on a Sunday? Come check this place out. I believe they opened at 11 today, and the parking lot was pretty full when we arrived before noon. 3 separate eating areas available here. Bar seating on one end, and restaurant seating on the other, with a nice outdoor area for those perfect weather day’s. Sampled a few of there beers along with an Mac and cheese appetizer that was creamy, with a nice bacon touch mixed in. Ordered the small Bigfoot Country pizza, that was brought out promptly. Crust was thin and crispy, and the toppings were a perfect marriage together. There’s a lot to explore on their menu so plan on returning if you like your first.

First off, we ordered for take out at 4pm on a Tuesday so I can't comment on the waitstaff. There was a large selection of beer but we didn't indulge. However, this restaraunt is a pitiful Mellow Mushroom knock off. We ordered a sub, pizza and salad. Quality control was lacking on both the sub and the pizza. The sub was a Big Wolly Mammoth and the "homemade" bbq sauce was not only bland but it was not even spread on the entire sandwich. It was heavy on pickles and there was no effort to toast the bun. The bbq waste tasteless and dried out. It came with fries with were quite tasty but didn't reedem the bland taste of the entire sandwich. Next, we got a 12" ring of fire pizza (buffalo chicken). It was mostly crust as the toppings were basically dumped in the center and not spread out to create an even crust. All I could tase was buffalo sauce, which unlike the sub was SUPER heavy handed. There was a smattering of chicken and bacon but certianly not like I would expect from a specialty pizza. Our side house salad was beautiful but the house dressing inedible. I couldn't put my finger on the sour taste but it tasted old. I used my dressing at home and enjoyed my house salad way more than my entree. As far as pick up orders go, you must go to the bar and the two female bartenders were friendly enough but were allowing a drunk patron to put his bare feet ON the bar top while we waited. It was one of the more stomach turning things I've seen in a restarant lately. If I had not already paid with a credit card, I would have walked out. I would not recommend this pizza joint, to anyone, for any reason. If you are looking for good pizza in high point, go to Mario's on north main. They may not have a bar and tap room but you won't get hoof and mouth disease and you won't get bland /...

Best pepperoni pizza I have ever had. And I’ve had a lot of pepperoni pizza in America and Italy. I didn’t ask what brand of pepperoni they were using but I really enjoyed it. I’ll be back. I suggest you try it too. July 2023. I have visited twice this month. The pizza is still outstanding. Way to go Blue Rock. Great job.

Sept 2023. I have spoken highly of this restaurant, it’s food, and it’s service so much so that it pains me to report the following. After ordering food for two to go. We drove to the restaurant and parked in the appropriate place. The service person came out to our car to check on what we had ordered. When she returned we asked her to place the food on the back seat. (Mistake). Because not all we had ordered and paid for was present. I accept part of the blame for this mistake. I should have taken the time to open each container to make sure we were receiving all we ordered. Because I did not we went home and found the 12 dollar cheese fries were not included. I contacted the restaurant and was told that a refund would be posted to my card in a few days. After two weeks and another call to the restaurant I can only believe that a refund will not be forthcoming. Beware. It’s this that causes me to edit my high marks previously awarded. Beware.

Dec 4,2023. Still no refund. I guess I’m not going to get one. Last visit to this restaurant that I enjoyed at one time. Be sure and check your to go order.

Dec 24 2023. Still no refund. I don’t think I’m...
