Honestly can’t offer an earnest opinion on the food, but hostess at the front was rude & somewhat arrogant in her demeanor, not friendly or inviting as a hostess or greeter at any restaurant should be. I looked up sit down restaurant as I was in High Springs for business, this establishment popped up in close proximity, so I walk in, no person at the front, I stand there for a short while, maybe 2-3 minutes, decided to pick up a menu from rack beside hostess stand, As I begin to visually look over the menu, A young lady walks up, Proceeds to look at me, as if I irritated her, Grabs the remaining menus from the rack & move them to the bar stool, as if to get them away from my reach, Then she just stares at me for several seconds, no greeting, no good afternoon, no… are you here for lunch? Or ready to be seated? Finally she says , Can I help you? Now bear in mind, I walk into a restaurant at 12:30 on week day, chances are , I’m there to eat ? So I say I’m here for lunch, and ask is this menu the lunch menu? Thinking maybe she’s taking them because I mistakenly picked up a different dinner menu or something, She confirmed it was in fact the lunch menu, walks me to a table… without saying a word, again no friendly conversation, no how are you doing today? No I hope you enjoy your meal, etc… Walks over pops the drink menu on a table in a corner, seats were cracked & uncomfortable, I sat there for a brief moment, confused by her attitude & considering if I wanted to eat in any restaurant where the first impression was the greeter, that treated a customer with a level of disrespect, disdain & like I was inconveniencing her. So I apologized to the waitress, walked out & went to another restaurant, Pink Flamingo 🦩 were the staff is...
Read moreThe food is mostly mediocre especially given the price. While attempting to appear as a fine steakhouse/ dining restaurant in the area, most entrées are in the mid $20-30s and appetizers and drinks about half of that. While that is reasonable for good food, the great outdoors falls short of the mark. The steaks are truly terrible. They are thin, heavily salted/ seasoned, and are of poor quality if you are looking for a fine steak. If you are OK with Dennys type cuts, you may enjoy it but will have to pay around 75% more for the same food. The pasta is typically over cooked but some dishes are ok if you don't mind again, the excessive seasoning and fatty sauces. Theyused to have a fabulous bison burger, but sadly it was never brought back after covid. The rest of the burgers are just unremarkable burger meat with your choice of toppings, but remain preferable to the bad steaks if you are looking for meat. Therefore, the only thing on the menu that I consider excellent, are the sea scallops. These are truly perfect and are worth the price. The ambiance is nice with indoor and outdoor seating and frequent live music. It's a place I really want to love, and always has great service, but the food, especially steak and pasta dishes need a complete work over. In fact, over the last couple years we've tried to give the steaks yet another chance, and have spent the last couple years very disappointed. Sadly, if you go, I must recommend avoiding them all together. Dennys is...
Read moreTo anyone considering booking an event at this restaurant’s top floor venue, The Opra House — BEWARE. I would highly discourage anyone from trusting them with a wedding or any important event.
My fiancée and I reached out to Michelle, the so-called event coordinator, who told us our wedding date was available. She scheduled us for a tour, went over the layout, and even discussed our vision for the big day. We drove an hour to meet with her. Michelle said she would double-check with management but was confident that we’d be good to go.
From there, communication went completely downhill. My fiancée waited weeks for final approval, sent multiple follow-ups, and was ignored by Michelle for over three weeks. Then, just one month before our wedding, Michelle finally told us they had booked someone else for our date!
This is absolutely unacceptable. Weddings are stressful enough without having a venue pull the rug out from under you so close to the date. To make matters worse, when I called the manager, the best he could offer us was a free meal at The Great Outdoors. Really? A dinner does not make up for jeopardizing one of the most important days of our lives.
This place has proven to be unprofessional, disorganized, and unreliable. If you value communication, professionalism, and peace of mind, do not book...
