Ate here the last night of our visit with family. We were big fans of the original highland house before the new building and while we do miss the atmosphere of the old house this place definitely isnt struggling with business, they make good food, have a good atmosphere and had a lineup of people waiting for tables going out the door when we arrived for dinner. We sat outside because it was faster to get a table, but the mosquitoes were crazy so I wouldn't recommend that if you could get a seat inside.
My table had someone order spaghetti, parmesan chicken, sam cosma, a white sauce shrimp fettuccine dish. And they were even kind enough to let my aunt order the chicken tenders off the kids' menu because she wasn't all that hungry (rare these days for restaurants to allow this for some reason!). They were totally open to small changes to the dishes, and our waitress was super nice with a good personality. We all loved our food, and the breadsticks were a big hit. Better than olive garden for me!
The downsides of the night was probably due to how busy it was- our waitress, while attentive and kind, didnt write down orders for the five of us and it was sorta funny because my Grandpa mentioned it to us after she left wondering how she'd remember everything only for her to bring my mom the wrong dish so while the rest of us were digging in she had to wait until the rest of us were pretty much done till she got her chicken parm. The waitress was super apologetic and offered a free slice of cake, but due to dietary reasons, my mom wouldn't be able to eat that, so she comped her meal. Which again, was fine, but then her manager came over and repeatedly kept telling us how "shes a really great waitress and dont be upset" over and over to the point we kinda felt shamed for being disappointed in waiting for the replacement? We get apologizing, but she lingered and kept telling us not to be upset and how great the girl was when we were totally fine with waiting? We never expected to get anything for the mix-up, and we were fine waiting for it to come out. Other than that, the mosquitoes were the only thing to be aware of. Almost wished we had just waited the extra 30 minutes to get an inside seat loll
The food was great. I thoroughly enjoyed the ceasar dressing on the salad and even ate my Grandpas portion the next day for lunch. My uncle loved his soup he got as an appetizer - absolutely no idea what flavor it was, but he scraped the bowl clean. The Sam cosma was my dish and the beef was so delicious and the rice was a perfect match for it- the bell peppers were a little rubbery but it seemed like the most carb healthy meal I could find other than the cauliflower steak (i saw a iffy photo on facebook and some bad reviews here so I passed.). My uncle ordered a dish with shrimp in it, and he asked for a different sauce, and they were very...
Read moreWent to the Highland how to celebrate the anniversary for my sister and her husband. They were married 50 years. We also had her two children there who were arguing at the time. John, our waiter comes to our table, and he could sense the tension in the air. He was so good, he says well whatever it is you got going on here leave it at home. We’re here to have fun and honestly, I change the whole mood for the night. He made such a huge difference. Even today as I write this which is Saturday, May 6, 2023, the day after we were there. We were saying how much we enjoyed the night. How much fun it was in heartwarming it was for the family to be together. And John, he made a difference. We would definitely go back to the Highland house. They hire people like. John. Since I’m here, let me say something about the food. At their takeout deli, in front of the restaurant, I got some tabouli. I am of Lebanese dissent. My grandma used to make tabouli. REAL Lebanese tabouli. For my taste it needed a little bit more lemon , but nonetheless, it was delicious. And when you order a meal for two dollars you get a Greek salad and let me tell you, it is a big Greek salad. It is so big that after the salad I hardly had room for the meal. Good food for a good value. Oh, one more thing. They allowed us to bring our special 50th wedding anniversary cake. John cut it for us at the table. They didn’t charge for it. We really appreciated it. Their thoughtfulnesses was...
Read moreFirst and foremost my mother was pleased with this place so it automatically gets five stars in my book.
The staff was very friendly upon my parents and I entering. I Love how spacious the place is. We were sat at a booth for the three of us and it was awesome. We each had ample room and did not have to squeeze in and feel boxed in. I love how open the place is and how much room there was. I can not say enough how cool that is.
I ordered their lamb burger and it was delicious!!! I can be wordy about it but simply enough it was delicious!!!
My parents got ribs for two and with their salad and that was delicious. My parents were pleased so I was happy. The salad was fresh and that counts for a lot!!!
Their bread sticks are phenomenal. I could live off that every morning if I had to!!!
Last but definitely not least is the service. From when we entered till when we left, my mother felt respected and her needs were attended to. She commented on how great the service was and how she really liked that we went there to eat. It was our first time there.
Our servers name was Megan. She did an absolutely phenomenal job in taking care of us. She made my mother's experience worthwhile and I cannot express how grateful I am for...
