Sparkies Kitchen & Bar — Restaurant in Highland Charter Township

Used to love sparkies, but food quality and customer service has drastically decreased lately. Ordered 2 blackened sirloin pastas for take-out last night. 1 without cheese, steak cooked medium for both.

When we got home, both pastas were missing cheese, and the steak was so well done for both it was chewy. Side note - they also stopped serving garlic bread with this entree last week apparently, because of increased food costs…but including 1 piece of garlic bread with an entree must be one of the cheapest things a restaurant can do? So that’s irritating.

These entrees don’t come with a soup or salad either. There’s maybe one asparagus stalk in the entire dish cut up into tiny pieces. So they’re charging $18 for a pile of noodles, poor quality steak, and no accompaniments?

I called to state our order was wrong last night (Saturday 8-6-22), and the manager I spoke to was incredibly pleasant and apologetic. She was going to e-mail me a gift card voucher for $40 to cover the cost of our meals being incorrect. We also discussed how the sauce didn’t taste nearly as good as it usually does, and she assured me she would look into what was going on with that dish overall.

However, the e-mail never came through. I’ve now called twice today (Sunday 8-7-22) to ask what’s going on. The hostess took my name and number today, and assured me someone would call me, around 11:30AM. No call. I called again around 4PM, and Will (the manager today?) was incredibly rude, and said the owner Steve has my information now and will be emailing me.

I asked him why no one called me back, he said it’s with the owner now. I asked if I needed to come in for a refund? He said no, and again, was very short with me and rude. We won’t be ordering food from here again, especially when patrons who live in this area can go to Coratti’s in Milford for a genuine, delicious pasta dish; for the same price - and eating there includes bread for the table, and a soup or salad when purchasing an entree. Maybe posting this review will speed up the e-mailing me a voucher process? Which is instant, and was promised to have been done last...

I was incredibly disappointed in my experience here that will not be bringing anyone in my family back. We were seated around 4pm to a pretty empty restaurant, it was early and also my birthday. Don't worry, I didn't ask for anything or even mention it was my birthday, but the experience sucked for it. Our waitress was extremely short with us, she had long blackish brown hair and was probably in her early 20s. We ordered waters and she went back to the pink haired bartender rolling her eyes after dropping them off to us. She kept going back to the bartender to talk and gossip instead of tending to us and being kind towards us. We were so polite... I still have no idea what we were doing wrong. We ordered our food and it was just okay. She snapped at someone in my group when he didn't ask for his steak cooked a certain way right away. She didn't ask us how our food was, yet I noticed she was nice to both customers seated behind and infront of us. When it was time for the check she quite literally threw it across our table and kept walking by. She was nasty, had an attitude, kept rolling her eyes with her friend behind the bar after "talking" to us, probably thinking I didn't have a clear sight of her....it was overall awful. I would never ever want to be seated with her as my server again. I wish I had more of a description to steer clear of her lack of customer service. I'm pretty sure for that the person who kindly paid for my birthday meal gave her little to no tip for that display after we were polite, ordered quickly, and were so easy to handle. I come from a bartending and food background, she ruined our experience for us and I was far from impressed by this. Use your own judgement, but I won't go back if you're going to be that rude to your customers...

Applewood Mac and cheese is the most boring thing ever! Don’t order if you’re a Mac and cheese fan!! You will be severely disappointed! Dry. Boring. Flavorless! The toppings are literally just toppings. Just eat those! Even that won’t satisfy. Will give the crispy potato’s kudos! Delicious! Sandwiches…. Beef dip, boring and lacking in flavor. Thank goodness for the dipping juice! Ordered another sandwich to split as well and it was excellent. Great flavor. Can’t remember the name but it had bacon, Turkey, ham, tomato…. The only thing that gave me excitement! The Bartender recommended it and was spot on with that! Drinks? Boring and cheap in taste. Had their Spark margarita and it was God awful Sour Mix. Decided to leave and find a good drink elsewhere. Their Brussels sprouts from a previous experience were delicious. Along with their jambalaya! Wonderful!!

Rueben roll appetizer left much to be desired. Like, where was the crunch of the sauerkraut?!where was the sauerkraut?! Boring.

Bartender was decent. Just kinda there. Nothing engaging. But did her job. Give her kudos for suggesting the sand which that she did.

Wouldn’t go back. I love tastes and that’s my jam! Sparkies is uninspiring for the last two experiences except for two things. A sandwich and a jambalaya. Not worth the drive or the ambiance or the money,...
