The best restaurant in Highland Park. Perhaps top 5 in Chicago. Alright, so bacon tastes better than cauliflower and you know this, man. But not here - they do something to their garlicky, peanut buttery, roasty, salty cauliflower dish that makes it the best cauliflower you or I have ever had. Get 2 of these. Also, get everything else, except maybe the steak frites which was, on a scale of one to way up there, about half way up there... i recommend getting like 4 people together and ordering like 12 apps and then just float to Favinia brewery for a night cap afterwards.
We went for a buddy's birthday and it was just great - cool outside but necessary during Covid - they need to buy heaters, but otherwise loved everything. Other standout dishes included the tuna tartare which had very delicious sesame rice crackers and great marinade, the brussels which were standard sweet asian style but great, and my wife loved her glazed salmon even though I spit it out. It was soo good she told me that even though I hate salmon, I "just had to try it" - so it wasn't so good a guy who hates it liked it but it is so good a person who loves it forced a man she loves and knows hates it to try it. So there you have it. Strong drinks, solid service, and they put up with our very loud birthday bash. Thank you,...
Read moreI went for the first time with friends. The atmosphere was great and very vibrant.
I had an Abigail’s Margarita, which was very delicious. Then, we shared the Flash Fried Brussel Sprouts and the Ahi Tuna Tartar. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste and texture of the brussel sprouts.
They brought out yummy Cheddar Biscuits. I ordered the Half Roasted Chicken with Potatoes (can’t remember the exact name of the dish). It was AMAZING!! Chicken was delicious, potatoes were to-die-for (super crispy but still soft and fluffy inside), the sauce was perfect. Like I said, it was amazing!
My friends ordered Shrimp Toast, the Salmon Entree, and a salad. I would definitely try the shrimp toast again! It was very good and I haven’t had anything like it before.
We ended the evening with desserts also. We ordered the Donut Holes, Apple Cake, and something with peanut butter and banana ice cream. All so GOOD!!
So glad my friends brought me to Abigail’s. The food was INCREDIBLE! I will...
Read moreI've been wanting to try Abigail's for a while now based on the great reviews, and finally made it there last night. We sat outside, as it was a beautiful evening, and while I appreciated the outdoor seating, it's right across from the metro station, so loud trains occasionally interrupted our conversation. Not something that would keep me from returning, but just something to know.
The service was wonderful. Our server was kind and present and on top of things.
As for the food, it was a mixed bag. They bring some complimentary cheese rolls to the table shortly after ordering, which was a nice treat. We started with the mixed green salad which was fine. Apples, blue cheese, etc... good stuff, but the salad wasn't anything special. I wouldn't order it again. For the main course, I had the burger, which I thought was quite good. The accompanying fries weren't great, though. Others at our table had the branzino and the mussels and...
