Taqueria Los Mogotes de Michoacan — Restaurant in Highland Park

Firstly, the callee that answers the phone and takes your order is nice and patient when taking your order. However, once I went to pick my food up which was 2 gb tacos, 2 orders of quesadillas, 3 steak tacos you would’ve thought it came with beans or rice or even chips and salsa. Again for my total price it should’ve came with something. You have to pay for cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream etc. on everything. So I’m passed that about now because the food was already ordered. So I go to pay everything is packed so small. Almost thought I didn’t have everything that’s how smushed everything was. I go home to eat my quesadilla and I find this bone in my quesadilla. See picture below. Then on my receipt I’m charged extra cheese twice and didn’t even ask.

I came into this Mexican restaurant on a very hot summer day to order an horchata. I stood at the counter looking at the menu, considering getting something to eat as well, but ultimately just ordered the drink.

While I was at the counter, I overheard the cooks in the kitchen speaking in Spanish and mocking me for only getting an horchata. What they didn’t realize is that I understand Spanish—and I know exactly what “pinche” means. Their comments were rude and uncalled for.

The homemade chorizo was by far the highlight of the meal, but overall the rest of food was so-so. The chips that came with the chips/salsa did not seem fresh or made in-house, they sort of had that restaurant supply store vibe. The salsa itself was quite watery and didn't have much flavor.

This theme continued as the main dishes came out. The barbacoa was watery and pretty bland, as well as the rice and beans. The beans definitely needed salt, which is where we realized that there was no salt out on any of the tables.
