Highland Park Public Library — Attraction in Highland Park

Every interaction with the staff is excruciating. If you are new to the area and need to ask questions expect to receive incorrect answers and have to repeat yourself several times because they’re not actually listening. None of the staff I’ve interacted with have any customer service skills. They will continue to read or chat with their acquaintance rather than help a customer. Really under informed and easily overwhelmed. I took my kids to an event and the one staff member leading the activity got annoyed by the children lining up for help and speaking out of turn. Why would you select a staff member to lead a children’s activity who clearly doesn’t know how to work with children? How can we raise kids to love the library when the librarian treats them like a nuisance? The librarians don’t know about the programs they’re not directly involved in and if you have a day job don’t expect to be able to participate in any of the adult or kid...

I love libraries and this is truly one of the best...I have frequented some of the great libraries in Boston, DC, NYC, Chicago and London to provide some backdrop.

The original section is wonderful classic...right down to large fireplaces under vaulted ceilings.

The staff is wonderful! Knowledgeable, friendly w/ great personalities. The IT support staff is second to none. I have never seen such a gifted technical crew in a public facility.

I would strongly advise making the HP Library a "Destination". Besides the Library there are these wonderful gardens immediately adjacent....

Great place to get some work done for a few hours. They seem to have sufficient selection of books and movies as well. For me, the biggest draw is that there is plenty of parking and plenty of space to work. There's the occasional quiet chatter going on from the desks but nothing to distract you. If you desire absolute silence bring some headphones and you'll be fine. Highly...
