Palio's has been in Highland Village for several years and we always loved their food. A couple of years ago they moved to an new location with a small patio area. This is a BYOB restaurant that always had great food. It was so nice to go, take a bottle of nice wine and sit on the patio and enjoy wonderful pizza. The place was always busy.
We decided to go about 6:30 last night, take a bottle of wine and sit on the patio. When we got there we could see there was one open table on the patio. As we walked through the restaurant to get to the patio, the inside was almost empty, with only 2 or 3 tables occupied. When we got to the small patio, there were 4 or 5 tables occupied. We ordered our pizza and asked for wine glasses. They had no wine glasses that weren't being used. OK, this is a BYOB, the restaurant is not even a third full and they have no available wine glasses. So we were given plastic water glasses. Not the end of the world, but seemed an indication that there is a management problem surrounding adequate inventory.
Our pizza was delivered almost immediately. We were pleasantly surprised and commented to our waiter about the fast service. She laughed and said she was surprised at how fast it came out too. When we took our first bite we discovered that the pizza was lukewarm (at best). There was no way this pizza had just come out of the oven. We wondered if it was even our pizza or an extra that was sitting there, perhaps waiting for a to-go pickup that never showed.
It seems what used to be a very busy and great place to dine has fallen victim to poor, poor management! I hope they will do something to turn it around quickly. With more competition in the area, they had better work hard and fast, or they won't...
Read moreI highly recommend getting your pizza elsewhere, unless you’re a fan of horrible experiences. I placed a pickup order an hour in advance and when I came to pick it up they couldn’t find the order at first but then it came up but they hadn’t even started on the order.
No apologies, nothing! There was one customer there so it wasn’t a matter of just being busy. While I sat and waited for 20 minutes I saw 2 other customers come in with similar issues and they were furious. I feel their pain!!!
This next part is technically on me, but I made the mistake of expecting the order to be correct and since it was 7 pizzas it would be tough to check every box. I get home and they forgot a sandwich. I drive back to pick it up and get a call letting me know 2 of the pizzas have vegan cheese so I had to get them replaced.
I see the sam 3 people standing by the register making me feel like an inconvenience. The same couple was still sitting in their booth without there food almost 40 minutes later. They went to the counter, told the employee and she seemed confused. Sure enough they completely just forgot about them. How do you forget about the only customer in the building when you can see them...
Read moreTook my daughter here for a special occasion lunch. We were the only diners in the restaurant for the hour we were there.
The dining area is super dark, so we went to one of the few tables with a bit of light. The booth seats were covered in crumbs when we sat down (neighboring tables had the same) and the vinyl seat was ripped up.
The soda machine was out of our drink and only dispensed water.
Was served a completely different meal than I'd ordered. Then got the right order, but it was freezing cold (meatballs). Third try, it was okay, but the side of marinara was freezing cold still.
My daughters kid's meal (chicken nuggets and fries) was nothing to write home about... looked like a cheap microwave meal with pale, soggy fries. She nibbled a bit but wouldn't eat anymore.
The staff was very nice, but the place is definitely run down and struggling. We'll never go back to Palio's,...
